Master PIN

When I choose a master PIN and press SET, the screen goes back to "Choose a Master PIN".  When I enter the just selected PIN number, the screen says "Pin updated" and then goes back to the "Choose a Master PIN" screen.  I can't get into the menu either.  I tried removing a battery to turn off the keypad and then restarting it and I still get the Choose PIN screen.  What could be the problem?

Hi @martinlw,

That certainly is an interesting issue that you've run into. Since the setup process is actually handled by the Base Station and not the Keypad, you may need to do a Base Station reset. This can easily be done by following these steps:

  • Remove the power adapter.
  • Using a Phillips-head screwdriver, remove the screw holding the battery cover in place, and then remove the battery cover.
  • Remove one of the batteries from the Base Station--this ensures there is no power going to the Base Station, which is important--and wait for about 10-15 seconds.
  • Reinsert the battery.
  • Close the battery compartment and use the screwdriver to reseal it.
  • Plug the power adapter into your Base Station

After doing this, you'll want to complete the setup through the menu on the Keypad. You'll want to set your Master PIN through the PINs section in the menu and after doing that, you'll want to select Setup and Naming on the main screen of the menu to set up each of your sensors.

Thanks for your comments.  I got on the phone this morning with Kirsty and her last suggestion was to do what you stated here to reset the base station.  I had done that with the keypad last night but not tried it with the base station until this evening when I had the time to remove a battery.  That fixed whatever problem I was having with the continuous PIN selection screen.  "When in doubt, reboot".  That was the fix for this anyway.

thank you for the question and the solution. I had the EXACT same problem - and this resolved it.
