Keypad is dead

Got my Simplisafe system on November 8th, a little more than two weeks ago.  The Keypad was dead in the box so I opened it and replaced the batteries.  That worked and it got me through setting up the rest of the devices.  Then it went dead again, so I tried just putting the batteries that came with it back in.  That worked, up until yesterday when it went dead again.  I popped the back, removed one battery and replaced it and it came back to life again.  I read some of the Forum's and Google discussions so I tried updating the operating system. It really gives you very little feedback on which version you have and if it updated/what version I have now.  It only said it would take 25 minutes to do it.  So it did.  This morning the keypad is dead again.  Fortunately my online account and the App still work so I have a backup to Arm and disarm the system.

So, what do I do now to replace the dead keypad?

Hi christopher.miles,

First, to check your current firmware, you can head over to the Keypad Menu and navigate to System Settings > Diagnostics.

But that's only if your Keypad was functioning properly. It sounds like we should really replace it. Give our Support team a call at 800-548-9508 and we can get that taken care of.

The support team had me take the batteries out of the keypad to reset it and then do the same with the base station.  That took care of the issue up until the software update (got the cog system icon on the keypad and I did the update) and the dead keypad issue returned the next morning.  Removing the batteries/resetting both devices appears to have fixed it again. At least for now (on day 3).
