Is SimpliSafe collecting sensor activity data in disarmed/home mode?

Does the SimpliSafe system always log all sensor activity, regardless of system arm state, and send that data to servers?  For example, if system is disarmed or armed in home mode, are the motion sensors still sending motion activity to the base and is the base sending that data to servers?  Is SimpliSafe (the company) collecting sensor data (movement, door/window open/close, etc.) regardless if the system is armed or disarmed?

@Boring_Joe While I cannot comment in all instances, I can tell you if the system is off and you have a sensor set to "Secret alert" it is definitely sending a signal to the base. This is evident as it appears in your timeline and you receive a SMS or push alert as you have it configured. As far as other times without secret alerts, will have to defer to SS.  Just for the record, if you are a SS customer, have cameras, temp sensors, CO, smoke etc you are already "all in" with data going to SS but, one of the resasons I am with SS for 12+ years, is that they have very high security standards, strong encryption end to end etc.

Hi @Boring_Joe ,

Your alarm system is sending only the data that is fully visible in the SimpliSafe app. So for example, no, it's not sending Motion Sensor trigger signals when the system is disarmed, or if that Motion Sensor is disabled in Home Mode.

Or think of it this way: All sensors will always send a signal to the Base Station whenever they're triggered. But it's the Base Station that keeps a list of whether or not those sensors are supposed to be active right now (e.g. Motion Sensor is off in Home Mode, Water Sensor is active at all etc.), and only then will it send a signal to Monitoring.

The other piece though is battery and signal information, which the Base Station will send on a regular basis. So as soon as you open the SimpliSafe app, you should have a fairly accurate read of your whole system.
