Our sensors - like the Entry Sensor, Motion Sensor, and Glassbreak Sensor - communicate to the Base Station via radio frequency, so they do not require an internet connection to function. The Base Station does require an internet connection to install firmware updates, but this can also be done with a hotspot. Internet connection is also required for the Base Station to communicate to our Monitoring Center; but if you are subscribed to the Fast Protect™ or Standard Monitoring plan, the Base Station can use its built-in cellular backup to communicate to the Monitoring Center instead.
Devices that do require an internet connection are our cameras - like the Smart Alarm Wireless Indoor Camera, Outdoor Camera, and Video Doorbell. Without it, they will not function.
