How to tell if SS3 system has a T-Mobile vs Verizon module?

I purchased a Simplisafe SS3 system this last December and am just getting around to setting it up and activating it. When I ordered the system, I was not asked whether I wanted a T-Mobile or Verizon module so don't know what came in the SS base. Is there some way to determine this, either from the keypad or from physically opening the SS3 base?

A related question is whether the keypad can provide any information about the quality of the cellular signal, e.g., whether there is 1 bar or 3 bars.

99.9 percent of the time it comes with the tmobile chip but you have to say when ordering that you want the Verizon chip if ypu know tmobile will not work in your area. Im not real sure if you can see about the cell signal with keypad. All i did was since my cell phone is with tmobile anyway i downloaded a app call cell signal or something like that and i put it near the base station and see how good the signal is and it was good. But we have ours hooked up to the wifi for primary signal and use the cell signal for backup. Plus any over the air updates can only be done through wifi.

Agree. If Verizon was not specified then I would presume it to be Tmobile.

Mine says Vodafone.  The RSSI is -91db.

If you pop the top off of the module, you'll see where the SIM card is seated on there. If it has a magenta T, it's T-Mobile. If it has a red check logo, it's Verizon.

Also, if SS gives you the ICCID/SIM Card Serial Number, here's how you'll also know.

If it begins with 8901: It's T-Mobile

If it begins with 8914: It's Verizon

All T-Mobile SIM Card Serial Numbers/ICCID's begin with 8901. All Verizon's begin with 8914.

parkernathan, thank you for that, it's going to be helpful for a lot of people - now if only SS would allow users to post stickies :(

My question is, what's Vodafone?

In English, its the cell chip inside the base station. Simplisafe either uses tmobile or Verizon.

A followup: I called Simplisafe customer service at around 9am two days ago to ask about my the cell module and got connected within 2-3 minutes with someone who was quite helpful. He was able to verify remotely that I had the latest generation Verizon LTE chip and that my base had a strong signal. (They can tell remotely if you have a strong, medium, or weak signal.)

Note that I had not asked for a Verizon chip at the time of purchase and the Simplisafe person I talked to said about 50% of outgoing phones have the Verizon module.

I also found that the keypad gives the carrier information: touch Menu, System Settings, scroll all the way down to Diagnostics (very bottom of a long list), then scroll right four times and you get a page of "Cell" information about the cellular module. Mine says "Carrier: Verizon" and "RSSI -65 db" where RSSI stands for "Received Signal Strength Indicator" and I don't know how to interpret the - 65 dB. But at least it says directly what carrier you are using.

I just looked amd mine just says Vodafone so that must be tmobile. But i do know they used to mostly tmobile on all of them so now they must be switching for some reason but im glad mine is tmobile as at&t sucks where i live and my work phone is Verizon which sucks where i live and my personal phone is tmobile and is awesome so i knew tmobile would be the right one. Now if we ever move well, thats another story lol.

By the way mine said Vodafone -89 des which im assuming is good.

-65 is very strong.  I have Vodafone so it must be T-Mobile.  My RSSI is -95.  Not so great.  But it is better than the -105 that I have on my Verizon cell phone, so that's good.
