Entry Delay, Away time setting

Hello,
I have successfully set the entry home to 1 second from 30 however the Entry Delay, Away is hard coded to 30 seconds. All other systems I have used allowed this to be set to 0 seconds.
During the 30 second delay someone can break in (or come in through an unlocked door) and destroy the base, kill, harm or overpower the occupant(s) before the alarm goes off. This is not acceptable.

Has anyone asked SS to change the software for their base to allow this setting to be reset to a lower time?

I know the reason is to prevent an alarm at SS every time you enter your house however other professional systems that go off instantly will still wait for 20 seconds waiting for a reset before calling. Our last system was set to 0 seconds. If you have Key Fob(s) registered with the base should automatically allow this to be set by user.

I believe you have to call SS and request the delay for Away mode time be reduced.

As mentioned, you can call SS to have it lowered.

Or, if you want zero entry delay then just cut to the chase and set the applicable sensors to "Instant Trigger". You can do that yourself.

Appreciate your reply post on this;  I am aware of the 'Instant Trigger' option on sensor devices.  My understanding is 'Instant Trigger' will immediately sound the Alarm(siren) in either mode,  AWAY or HOME.    I assume  [since SS does not make it clear]  that 'Instant Trigger' will also contact Monitoring Dispatch immediately in HOME or AWAY mode.  Are my understanding and my assumption correct ?

Thanks
Before post I tried  Instant Trigger in Test but on a motion sensor that was intermittent
All my devices are on Instant Trigger

Based on what I've read about motion sensors sometimes triggering intermittently in testing, myself, I think it's that they get accustom to heat signatures by repeated testing. IMO, that aspect is not related to having zero delay vs instant trigger.

Using the app., turn the light off on your base station so it will take the intruder long to find it and destroy it.

Yes, with Instant Trigger the alarm is immediately sent to the monitoring service in either Home or Away mode. But, as coltmaster1 explains, you get a 30 second grace period in which disarming the system will typically negate the call from monitoring.

Note the 30-second "grace period" for disarming the system applies for normal delayed triggers and Instant Trigger just the same.

Thought I read somewhere that SS3 can have different home and away settings for instant trigger but I could easily be mistaken that it was something else. I have SS2 so I can neither confirm nor deny the part about SS3 settings. ;)

I'm not sure about Away mode and instant trigger, but I assume it is the same as Home mode because the alarm will sound if your delay setting in Away mode is "0".  Call SS to confirm.

As for timing - when a sensor is set to instant trigger, the alarm will sound instantly.  Then, 30 seconds or so, if you do not disarm the system (or are away from the home), you will get a call from Monitoring who will request your safeword and ask if you need assistance (i.e., if you're away from the home, don't have a SS simplicam to see what's going on in your home to check why the alarm went off), then you can tell Monitoring to send police dispatch to your home, or not, it's your call.

The 30 seconds after the alarm sounds is for you to disarm the system in the event of a false alarm and Monitoring will often consider it a false alarm.  If you DO disarm the system within 30 seconds, Monitoring will probably not call you (unless you have a sensor set to Fire, or Medical etc), in which, they might call to make sure if you need assistance or not.

Edited:  forgot to mention the SS camera, can be useful if you've set it up and an alarm goes off if you're gone from the home, you can check your feed (as can Monitoring).
