Do bird strikes activate the glass break sensors?
We have a bay window and two other large windows looking toward the back yard. We have a bird feeder that is often pretty busy and is located in the middle of the back yard, basically in clear view of the bay window, about 15' in away from the glass.
I'm in the process of figuring out how many sensors we'd need, and planning where they'd go, before getting a system.
Ideally I think I'd like a glass break sensor to protect some of the windows looking toward the back yard. But once in a while we have a bird strike. Sometimes it's a gold finch. Sometimes a junco. A week ago, a you red bellied woodpecker hit the glass. It happens a few times a year. It never breaks the window. They don't get up enough speed to hit that hard.
But would these strikes trigger the a glass break sensor? If so, I guess I'd just go with motion sensors in the rooms.
And is there a way to configure the system so that the glass break sensors are only activated at night?

The Glassbreak Sensors for the All-New SimpliSafe system specifically detects the unique frequency of shattering glass so it is very unlikely that the sensor would be triggered by a bird strike. That being said, if you are still concerned about that possibility (and to answer your second question), if you are planning on only using Home mode for your system at night, then you would be able to have the Glassbreak Sensor only be armed at night by setting it to only be armed in Home mode. This can be done through a SimpliSafe Keypad or through the SimpliSafe app.
