Changing device "alarm mode" - no way to save new mode in home/away

I'm trying to change the alarm mode on an entry sensor to send a "secret alert" in home mode (on my android phone app).  There are 3 radio button choices, "Alarm", "Secret alert" and "Disabled".  After selecting the 2nd option there is no OK or SAVE button.  Clicking outside the popup just aborts to the original setting.  How do you make a change and SAVE it here?

@ jeffdarter sorry but got a bit lost reading your post. SS2 or SS3, and on the website dashboard or in the phone app?

New SS3 system.  Using the android phone app:

Main screen: upper left corner hamburger menu
:Settings
::Device Settings
:::(Entry sensor selected) - Entry Settings
::::Alarm Mode - Home
:::::Alarm/Secret Alert/Disabled (radio buttons)
::::::There is no ok or save button here

@jeffdarter thank you for the time to walk through it in your post. Once you make your selection on the menu, press on your screen anywhere off the active window. The settings sub menu where you made your choice will disappear. Click on save on the upper right ahand side, then hit the left arrow key to exit the entry savings page and you are good to go. Hope this was easy to follow.

NOPE!  What you described is my EXPECTED app behavior too - and what I have tried over and over again.  Give it a hands-on try and you'll see that it doesn't make the change.  It works fine in the online dashboard but it's an entirely different interface.

@jeffdarter you are correct. I didn't test it, in error. Johnny M, appears a major bug in the android app.

Mystery solved.  If you change your display settings from default to largest the submenu in the Android app does not scale properly.  Going to your Android settings advanced options display and set back to default.  They cancel and save buttons will appear on the bottom of the sub menu.  While not a straight-out bug there is still an issue with the Android app scaling properly.

Thanks for looking into that further.  I probably do have the display settings magnified.  But rather than change everything else on my phone, I'll just use the online dashboard until the android app gets fixed.

@jeffdarter I put mine from largest to larger and appears to now be okay (default worked too of course) but SS could work on the app so it would scale properly to accommodate us with not so quite stellar eyesite.  For one, I would love if they would darken the font a bit in the app! :-)

Hi jeffdarter,

Yes, when editing the settings for a specific component, say an Entry Sensor, there should be a title bar up at the top. the "Save" button should be there. It should be grayed out until you make a change to the settings.

Improper scaling of the app might be a good lead. I did test on my own personal Pixel 4 XL, and I'm not able to replicate the issue. Would you mind letting us know what device you're using, and with what version of Android? That'll give our QA team a good place to start.

@Johnny M. its definitely a scaling issue. Ask a coworker with a PIxel 4a and try it out. Very happy to see you don't have an iphone. :-)

@Captain11,

My wallet is sad to say, I have both. My technophile self couldn't resist.

But I see what you mean now. When you tap (for example) "Home" under the Alarm Mode section, that opens a popup. And the "Cancel" and "OK" buttons are obscured at the bottom of that popup window. On my screen, I can just barely see the buttons peaking out!

I'm reporting this to our app UX team.

@Johnny M wow, Android and Apple....only sad you have the latter. :-) Thanks for reporting the scaling issue. BTW, the rumored specs on the Pixel 6 are intriguing, to say the least.

No problems on my Galaxy S9, but I have not made any changes to screen size/scaling or whatever.
