Changing a device name

How can I change the name of a newly added device?  For example, I want to change an entry sensor from BACKDOOR to SIDEDOOR.  Thanks.

@JHN52 easy and you can do it several ways. Go to your SS3 keypad, push menu button, enter pin, go to devices, select your sensor and edit there.  My favorite, with the 24.99 Total Command plan is to log into the website, go to devices, click on the sensor name you want to change and delete what you want, add what you want and then click on save.

Thanks my friend.  While I "got you" . . . I'm a brand new owner.  Do you have any TIPS for keeping the system running?  Occasional reboot of base station?  Refresh WiFi connection?  Prevention of technical attack as discussed on WWW?  I did not put up the SimpliSafe sign so as not to alert anyone about what alarm system I have.

@JHN52 there are many great posts and tips in the forums...and in the new help center. The help center has a search tool. Here is in the forums suggest you use a google site search. For example:

Want info on SS3 motion sensors and pets? use this:

www.simplisafe.com/forum SS3 motion sensor pets

As far as reboot, no need if there are no issues. As far as wifi, I do reboot mine weekly as it seems to improve stability and performance.  Other "tips"?  Make sure you read instructions. My wife reminds me often to do this, and I paid the price with the smoke and co sensors. They should be cleaned regularly. I do mine bimonthly (SS does say monthly) with a can of compressed air. I get it at Costco by the case for under 8 bucks.  Still been on the same case of over 2+ years and counting. I also test my system and all sensors monthly (40+ sensor system) and put system in test, then when COPS calls I ask them to put it in test mode for 30 minutes so I can do my testing.

Been a customer over 8 years, had SS2, now SS3 and very happy. And, finally, those posts you read on the internet? Don't believe everything you read. They are either crap or, if technically feasible, highly unlikely.  My favorite was that a dog invisible fence would defeat the system. I don't own a dog so with the help of a neighbor put that one to rest.  The garage door remote is technically true, but in real life you have to know the exact position of the base and direct line of sight to the sensor in question. According to my tests, extremely unlikely.

Best of luck with your new system!

On the other hand, I've had my SS2 system for years and have NEVER rebooted the base, and have not seen any issues.
