Can I arm system on the keypad without a code?

I just noticed that when I push home on the keypad it goes into home mode without a code.  Is that the way it is supposed to work?

Hi @mnichting ,

@ronsec is absolutely right, this is the intended behavior. Of course, you'd have your Keypad set up inside your house, so only those already inside can access it. So the scenario of an intruder deliberately arming your system is unlikely.

Not to mention that if you have Smart Alerts enabled on your phone, you'd know right away when your system is armed!

That's the way it's supposed to work (home OR away mode). No worries!

Thank you for the response!

So any stranger can arm my system without a code?  They just have to push the button?

Thanks!

@mnichting That's correct, but why would they?  The main thing is that the alarm can't be disarmed without the code or the app.

Ok thanks for all of this!  The key pad is in the lobby of business so it seems weird to me that one wouldn't need a code, but no problem.  As long as I know the rules.  Thanks again!

For a number of reasons (none of which are because it can be armed w/o a passcode) I would make sure that the keypad is somewhere that customers cannot physically access. Aside from general tinkering they can literally just slide it up and off the wall and walk off with it. While it's not likely that would happen it seems better safe than sorry.
