base station location

I'm assuming higher up equals better signal.

I want to put it on the floor behind a lamp table to make it less obvious.  There's a remote possibility that a smart burglar could recognize what it is and destroy it before it can send an alert.  Not likely but possible.

Not on the floor.  Not only will you lose a lot of range, but the floor itself may dampen the signal to the point where it won't work reliably at all.

At least one person puts a lamp shade on the base so it looks like a lamp.

@vickieis  to be specific, it was an IKEA lampshade, and was on the SS2 base. The SS3 base has the speaker on top but guess if a small metal frame it may work.  Good luck.

Oh, and my wife hated the way it looked but what did she expect for the 5 bucks I spent on it! :-)
