Base station batteries

I have SS II and I have the original batteries in the base station.
Should the base station batteries be changed at some point ??
Will the keypad notify me to change the base station batteries ??

The base station batteries are RECHARGEABLE, so don't need to be replaced until they fail. This often will depend on how often and how long your power goes down. I still have the original batteries in mine, which is many years old.

No.

It's like most battery-backup type of systems. You know it's time to replace the batteries if the power goes out (or you unplug it to test the backup) and the battery run time is abnormally short.
