Base station additional speaker/keypad speaker

Hello, I have a SimpliSafe gen 3 alarm system. We will be extending our current system for a larger house but would like to have an extension of the base station speaker. Is there a product that we can purchase to do that?

Hi @nathan,

Absolutely! You can find our 105dB Extra Siren here

Is the just a siren or a speaker for the command prompts like “SimpliSafe Armed Home” too?

@nathan The Extra Siren only delivers tones from the system, and not voice prompts. So you will hear the alarm through the Siren, but it won't announce anything like "Front Door, Open" if you had an entry sensor installed.

If you get the extra siren as I did you can have it beep as it's being armed and aslo chime when a sensor is being opened as well.

What about the doorbell?  We have to place the base station downstairs or it fails to connect to the smartlock, but then we can't hear the doorbell upstairs.

@rjordan At this time, the Extra Siren does not sound when the doorbell has been rung.

Any information on whether a voice command extension speaker of some sort is forthcoming?

@sgw we offer arming via Voice Command via Google Assistant and Alexa, as part of the Fast Protect Monitoring Plan - so you could arm your system using a Nest Speaker or an Echo. But we are not developing our own component like that.

ok, I mis-spoke. I'm not looking for a microphone to give it commands. I want a repeater speaker to here the jiberish that your base station spews forth from another location in the house.

What name should we give these messages? voice command? voice prompt? the voice?' base messages?

I which I knew this before I purchased.

Please, please, please create auxiliary speakers so we can hear voice prompts from the Base Station. Even with the Base Station set to the loudest level you cannot hear them in different rooms or levels in the house. Would think this is a number one priority for safety to the home owners.

@rrjak The Extra Siren currently cannot announce the Base Station's voice prompts. But if you create an "Ideas" post for this in the Product Requests and Suggestions section of the Community, we can pass this suggestion over to our dev team.

You can't do this for us?

Absolutely wild they wouldn’t pass this along to the team on their own. Wtf is SimpliSafe paying these community managers for? Maybe getting rid of them would free up some extra cashflow to produce a fairly basic product ffs

@dganttii we are already passing on ideas to the Product Team. The Product Requests section is our formal way of doing that, and also tracking how big the public demand is for each request. You can even see how many of your fellow users are asking for the same thing.

But no, adding a whole new component to our lineup is not an easy thing. There's a lot of R&D and logistics required to make it happen. Adding your voice to the thread can help a lot in signaling to our internal teams that the investment is worth it.

This is a huge short coming of the entire system. We need to completely change brands to just get a second remote speaker. Crazy.

@bill697df7 thank you for the feedback.

We do have the Wireless Siren, which is focused on the most important warning - actual alarms. But in terms of other messages from your system, we have focused on directing those through Push Notifications on the SimpliSafe app. That way, you can be notified wherever you are in the world, and not just at home.

But we understand that there's a few of you who would prefer the local loudspeaker approach. We have a pending request here that has already been forwarded to our Product team. The more folks chime in there, the more we can show the demand!

“A few of you.” Maybe spend less time being straight up dismissive and apathetic and realize there are countless threads on this very issue that go back several years. It’s not a “few.” Literally anyone who buys this system would benefit from this. Your job is to pass this along to the team, not dismiss one of the largest criticisms of the system as a “niche issue.”

I wish Simpli safe had this. Ring has a device called “chime and chime pro”. It does exactly what you’re asking. It’s an extension of your base speaker so you can hear notifications from anywhere in your home. I just got Simpli safe and now I’m kinda regretting it 🤷‍♂️

I agree, the lack of a repeating speaker linked to base station is a major issue.   We have a large house and can’t hear door chimes in various rooms.

I just installed entire system then found out.

seems like SimpliSafe is really intended for apartments or small houses

Ya we can’t hear ours either. Their solution when I called was to put notifications on my phone. But when I’m sleeping I may not hear my device.
