Alarm went off - What is going on?

I was laying downstairs on the couch and I heard a beeping noise...as I am walking upstairs to investigation 10 seconds later the Simplisafe alarm goes off saying entry sensor activated.

What was the beeping noise prior to the alarm being activated?

Also interesting .. my siren didn't activate. Just the base alarm went off. It is so weak it didn't even wake up my wife.

This is a brand new system. 3 weeks old.

Each sensor is set to be "instant" or "delayed", and the amount of delay can be set by the user.  The beeping noise is telling you that a delayed sensor has been triggered and the system delay has to expire before the siren goes off.

If you have interactive monitoring, go into your online account, then Settings, then check your Devices and check what you have your sensors set up as in Off, Home, and Away Modes.  Another section you should check is your entry delays vs instant trigger - also check batteries in the siren, and check settings to ensure you have it set up correctly (volume, etc) and the base station's volume level.
