Alarm COPS is NO More?

I just found out today the phone number for the SimpliSafe alarm center has been changed, and I was never notified. The phone number in my contacts was for COPS...called them today to cancel a false alarm and was told they don't service SimpliSafe anymore!  I was more than surprised! They gave me the number (855) 693-4911, which I assume  is the correct number.

When did SimpliSafe change the monitoring service and why wasn't I notified? I read and save all E-mails from SS and looking back I don't have anything reflecting the change.  I was impressed with the very fast response times from COPS. I will be doing a complete system test tomorrow so I'll see how long it takes to get a response. With COPS they were on the phone almost always less than 30 seconds from any test I preformed on my system.  Fingers crossed.....

Hi @route_66_guy,

We sincerely apologize for the missed communication. The phone number (855) 693-4911 is correct, and that's the only number you should save in your phone's Contacts and rely on so that you always know it's an important call about your SimpliSafe system. That number has been in place since 2019.

We value all the partners and service providers we work with to provide best-in-class monitoring support to our users. As an innovator in the home security space, we are always looking for ways to improve our services and monitoring capabilities. This includes innovations on our devices and technology, as well as our partners and providers.

We partnered with Rapid Response starting in 2022, so we could leverage their immense technical experience, and evolve our state-of-the-art service with important new features such as 24/7 live guard protection, and Alarm Texts that allow you to respond to emergency notifications (request assistance, or cancel dispatch) even faster. But please be assured that your safety and security remain our highest priority, and that includes quality performance and airtight security from our monitoring team.

UPDATE.. Today I did a complete test of my system: 7 Entry sensors, 4 Motion sensors, 6 Glass Break sensors, 4 Smoke Alarms, and 1 Panic Button. I got a call and a text after each smoke alarm test, and a text after every other sensor test. The call was a recording confirming it was a test. While I was at it I installed new  batteries in each Smoke alarm. Two were going on 4 years old, but they still worked. The tests are also listed in the Timeline for my system

I am satisfied with the response from SimpliSafe, but still bothered by having the wrong phone number for the past year.  I also had to go to the Police Station and update my annual permit. All is good...

Emily...thank you for your response. When I read the number was changed in 2019 it was somewhat of a shock!  I test my system on a regular basis and I did notice that when testing I no longer got a live phone call, but rather an automated response. I just assumed that was normal and didn't cause any concern.  When I triggered a false alarm I quickly called the old number and that's when I discovered I had the wrong number in my contacts list.

All is well now. Both my system and my contact list are updated and I will certainly pay more attention in the future!
