What are you using for outdoor camera(s)?

I just installed the system and like a lot of the features but a couple of things are either missing or not up to par.  Mostly around cameras.  There is no r3al outdoor camera option and the audio quality on the Simplicam is terrible.  What are you using for outdoor cameras?  Are you running two systems. Seems like the only option.  I would want a couple of wireless cams and there seems to be no solution in the Simplisafe product set.

@ tstrong2635 in my particular case, nothing. I have 3 indoor simplicams and the video doorbell, and all, including audio, are okay. This was not always the case with the firmware at release, but at least for me are okay now, possibly with a need for better performance with night vision with the doorbell.

That aside, SS did state they are working on outdoor cameras and I will wait.  The door lock and video doorbell were big gaps in the past, but now filled.  I will wait, for now, for the outdoor cameras. My over riding reason is to keep the same platform throughout.

I am sure you will get many good recommendations for 3rd party solutions from your post.

SS, how about it? Post the what and when on the outdoor video camera development!!!

I use Blink cams.  Have had them both inside and outside with no real problems.  They have a great community forum where as a designated Super User I help out with most problems before you have to call Blink tech support.

I use Arlo Pro 3 cameras.  I hate them and I hate Netgear.  As soon as I've used them to the point that I feel that I've gotten my money's worth, they're going in the trash and I am going to get something that doesn't suck.

I have two outdoor Ring cameras and a doorbell camera, plus one Ring indoor camera.  The videos AND AUDIO work perfectly, both day and NIGHT. I also have two SimpliSafe indoor cameras that have good video in daylight, but the night videos suck, plus the audio has never worked since day one on either camera.  Plus, I can delete the Ring videos, copy the videos, and send the videos to friends if I want to.  SimpliSafe has a LONG way to go to even begin to compare in video quality.  I wouldn't buy them again if I knew then what I know now.

I have been a SimpliSafe user for 7 years and both the SS2 and now my SS3 systems have worked perfectly during that time.  I trust and depend on my SimpliSafe alarm to protect my house and family.  It is the BEST alarm system I have ever used and the cost is minimal compared to contract companies. COPS is also the best monitoring company; their response is always quick and accurate.

@Route 66 Guy same here. SS customer for over 8 years and SS2, 3 and COPS have been great. When SS has fallen short, they have made it right.

Is SimpliSafe working on wireless battery powered all weather outdoor security cameras as an alternative to Blibk from Amazon?

Hi all,

We are still working actively on our Outdoor Cameras, however, we're not quite ready to share any details just yet.

SS Team,

Since it was at CES Jan 2018 where Chad said outdoor cameras were coming, possibly you can approach the MarCom dept and come out with a statement a bit more definitive?

For example: We are still working on our outdoor cameras and are projecting a release date in early 2023 (heck, we've been waiting over two years)  The cameras will be available in any color you like as long as it is Obsidian or Cloud  (yes, I ripped off Henry Ford) and will be electric, battery or coal powered.

Half kidding here, trying make light of a very long, long wait.
