It's helpful to know that there's actually been only a single generation of the Video Doorbell Pro so far. You might see "SSDB3" on the label.

Hi Johnny,

But if I go to the Amazon product page at https://www.amazon.com/SimpliSafe-Doorbell-Compatible-Security-System/dp/B089PNGL41?ref_=ast_sto_dp (which I get to from clicking on the camera in the Amazon Simplisafe store) I see the following:

SimpliSafe Doorbell - Compatible with SimpliSafe Home Security System (New Gen) (VPD301)

In the description further down it clearly states that the item number for the doorbell camera is VPD301. In fact if I search Amazon for "ssdb3" I get 0 hits that are the camera.

Ah, good catch. That would be because "VPD301" is the Amazon-specific retail packaging SKU. The actual Video Doorbell Pro itself is still the SSDB3. All the units you'll find at retail are the same model.

Trying to put together a system by picking my own pieces, and cannot find a way to add the vide doorbell pro.  Why not?

Good point but there is workaround.  Build your system, put it in your cart and then go back and add it, then check out.  One thing to consider is to look at Best Buy for the doorbell. Same price, normally, but does have additonal color plates you may like.

At this time, we only have the Video Doorbell Pro, which needs to plug into an existing wired doorbell system for both power and sound. We do have a pending request for a fully wireless and battery-powered version, if you'd like to add your voice to the thead.

We also recommend the Wireless Outdoor Camera, which is already fully wireless and can detect when people approach. That unit can be installed anywhere.
