@stevecy apologies for the site issues. But we also have an updated answer:

Your videos are stored on your Timeline for 30 days, after which each video is automatically removed.

You can also remove individual videos right away:

  1. Navigate to your Timeline, and select the event.
  2. Tap the video preview to enter the video player.
  3. Below, tap for the ⋮ three-dot menu icon, then select Delete Video.

@davey_d , there is no “three dot” icon appearing inside my events.  Please advise.

Hi @johnrtaylor7,

To confirm, you do not see the three dot icon when you tap the video preview? Are you trying to remove videos on a device like a smart phone or tablet? If so, I would remove the SimpliSafe mobile app from your device and download it again to see if that retrieves the icon.

Just wait 30 days.  They will be deleted automatically.  That is the only way.

The events will still show on the timeline, but the videos will be gone.

@simplistuckon This approach is dumb...hundreds of recordings could be made over a 30-day period.  The USER, the CLIENT, remember us who pay the bills?  WE should have the ability to delete one or ALL recordings at a time of OUR choosing...

The more we use this system, the worse it gets...

@esy202046 Currently, it is already possible to delete individual recordings. Here's how:

  1. Navigate to your Timeline, and select the event.
  2. Tap the video preview to enter the video player.
  3. Below, tap for the ⋮ three-dot menu icon, then select Delete Video.

Unfortunately, it is currently not possible to delete more than one video at a time.

Thank you.  Does SimplySafe retain the videos elsewhere? Cloud? Backup?

Hi @dwjohnson222,

Once one of your SimpliSafe cameras records some footage, that recording is then stored on our servers for 30 days. During that time, you can view or download any of those videos through the timeline on your account on the SimpliSafe app or SimpliSafe.com. After 30 days, the recordings are deleted from our servers.

@simplisafe_admin Well I think my cloud bank is so loaded that I only get partial recordings many times. Cannot delete anything. Keeps coming back immediately. Ridiculous.

I would also like to be able to delete all the videos at one click. I live next to a park that has lots of foot traffic and get at least 50 videos a day.

I live by a park and get hundreds of foot traffic every day and my phone gets filled by videos. It would be nice to be able to delete all the videos at one click and not wait for simplisafe to do it once a month.

What do you do if a video comes right back after you delete it? Tried rebooting phone—same sad deal.

Hi @dpclark1951,

Are your running the SimpliSafe mobile app on an iOS device? There is a known issue where recordings in your timeline may not immediately be removed after you try to delete them. Our engineers are currently investigating this.

In the meantime, if you navigate to your Timeline and pull down on the screen to refresh, the recording you tried to remove should be gone.

is it true that I can not delete videos showing in my timeline unless I have a paid account with you?  When I go to the timeline, I cannot highlight any individual entry.

@itsjustjoi1 Camera Recordings are available only with a subscription. If you were not subscribed, there would be no recordings at all.

Even with paid account and manual deleting they seem to come back so really no way to delete permanently

@gmoten7 that should not be happening. Once a recording has been removed from your feed, it should just be gone.

Do you see the same thing happening on a different device, or when logged into the webapp?

And would you be willing to share screenshots or a recording of what you're seeing? I would be happy to fordward this to our dev team.

Hi @gwynnepelton,

Is it just your husband who is having trouble deleting recordings, or are you unable to as well?

@gmoten7 I have the same response. Irritating.

I hit the 3 dots, select "Delete Video", but it's still there. If I close the app long enough, eventually the video will disappear leaving a placeholder that says "Video Deleted". Is this normal? Generally, I would expect the video to be deleted as soon as I hit the delete button.

Hi @Hoser1962A,

No, that is certainly not normal. If you delete a video, it should be completely removed from your timeline. If you navigate to your timeline in the SimpliSafe mobile app and pull down the screen, does it fully remove the video?
