@eamail2001 Camera firmware updates should happen automatically. However, if you move the camera that is not downloading an update near your WiFi router and Base Station, and then remove/re-add the camera to your account, it should help trigger an update.

@emily_s I tried this for both camera and during re-setup it checked for camera update and said camera(s) are up to date. But they are still showing different FW versions. I am also not sure what the latest outdoor camera update is?

@eamail2001 The latest Outdoor Camera firmware version is 1.16, so one of your cameras is already up to date. If removing and re-adding your other camera did not help trigger an update, it should automatically update soon.

@emily_s well it's not and the camera that is almost twice as far updated all on it's own.

@emily_s and SimpliSafe, it’s time for an update to this issue, please. I have a patio camera that is almost sitting on top of the router AND the SimpliSafe base station and not getting firmware updates after two months. My other 3 cameras are all sitting at different firmware versions. All of them have their own quirks so I am betting they are all firmware buggy.

Also, for the many people writing about issues that it takes forever to get a live feed, it doesn’t matter much with how far away or how close the outdoor cameras are to the router and the base station because mine all take forever to wake up and there was a time for weeks on end  that none of them would get past the “connecting to live view” message and would stay there forever, but this issue finally disappeared after a couple of weeks without me, doing a thing to them due to the inconvenience of being high enough up that it was a pain to bother with and I highly suspect that the outdoor cameras are overwhelming SimpliSafe’s network and video processing infrastructure in the cloud because my three indoor cameras work instantly and some of them are further away than the outdoor cameras. Suffice to say that SimpliSafe has a lot of work to do for the thousand dollars worth of cameras that I have for the two homes that I monitor with a lot of SimpliSafe hardware attached to them. I am very disappointed with the outdoor cameras being released before they were ready for prime time, and I suggested anyone considering purchasing the outdoor cameras that they hold off for quite some time as I see the messages related to these outdoor cameras go back quite a ways and don’t seem to be much further along.

While I like my SimpliSafe home security system, I am very disappointed in the outdoor cameras and I think that potential customers for these cameras should search high and low on the forums of Reddit and SimpliSafe, and look at the disparaging remarks. At close to $200 a pop for these baby paperweight anchors, one should think twice.
