Email verification

When you try to verify email through the web portal, it does not work.  You need to request email verification through the mobile app.  Posting here because none of the FAQs mentioned this.  Just FYI.

I'm 99.9% sure this worked for me via web, on chrome, but I had to disable adblockers and privacy badger, though this was a bit ago.

Hi there,

Worthing is already onto what I would have suggested - there might be something installed on your browser blocking the login code - like maybe you have an AdBlocker or other similar app or extension.

Verifications should definitely be working via web, since that's how you log into the webapp (for access to your account and system on a desktop browser).

Oh and I'll add "disable VPN" to my suggestion as well. If you're on a VPN, disable it temporarily. I've noticed the number of sites that don't quite work 100% while connected to a VPN has slowly increased over time. Sometimes it may even work on one node of a VPN but not another node of the same VPN.

I'm sick of apps and websites demanding email verifications, Captchas, text verifications, etc out the ying yang. How do it turn this OFF??? I will find another way to secure my home if necessary and get rid of Simplisafe! Sick of it!!! And to add insult to injury, THIS POST wants a verification!! GRRRR!

@mom2cats I know it can be a hassle, but verification is a vital safeguard for keeping your system, and therefore your home, secure. We see news articles every day of real people getting hacked, and their info stolen. So an email address and password are unfortunately not enough!

That being said, if you have Multi-Factor Authentication enabled, you should only need to log in once. As long as you're opening and using the app regularly, it should keep you logged in indefinitely.

@davey_d we do not have MFA enabled, at least on the app. I'm guessing it's different using a PC.

It might be worth it, if companies actually safeguarded our info. I have words for AT&T right now... They had a big breach last month. I haven't been a customer for about 10 years, but apparently they still have my SSN on file and guess what?? So I'm not really feeling the love right now!

@mom2cats we definitely suggest that you do enable MFA if you haven't already. We've got the step-by-step right here.

We can't pretend that any system can ever be 100% impervious. Digital security is similar to home security in that way. But for both, layers of security can make all the difference.
