At SimpliSafe®, security is our top priority, which is why your account is secure with Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) to add an additional layer of protection upon signing in. When logging into your SimpliSafe® account, we will ask you to verify your identity through a registered phone number, or through Biometric Authentication. You can register multiple phone numbers to authenticate your SimpliSafe® account for use on different devices.
Note: enabling MFA will replace 2-Step Verification. Once MFA is enabled, you will not be able to downgrade to 2-Step Verification at any point in the future.
Setting up Multi-Factor Authentication
Open the SimpliSafe® Mobile App and navigate to the three-bar menu in the upper left corner of the screen
Select Account Settings, and then Multi-Factor Authentication
You’ll be asked to log in again
If you have not set up MFA yet, you’ll need to verify your account with 2-Step Verification
Select Phone as the authentication method, and then tap Continue
Enter a phone number where you would like to send notifications
Note: only US and UK phone numbers are supported
Select how you would like to verify your phone number—you can choose either Text Message (SMS) or Phone Call
You’ll receive a 6-digit code. Type that code into the box in the SimpliSafe® Mobile App and then tap Continue
From here, you can tap + Add Authentication Method to add more contact numbers, or tap Done if you’re finished
You can follow the above instructions to return to the Multi-Factor Authentication screen and add more contact numbers at any time.
Didn’t Receive the 6-Digit Confirmation Code?
If you did not receive the 6-digit code when setting up MFA, it could be that your device has blocked the MFA number for SimpliSafe®. The MFA number that SimpliSafe® uses is
865-957-6630.
To unblock the MFA number on iOS:
Open up the phone app on your device and call 857-957-6630
You should receive a message stating “Sorry, the number you dialed is not in service”
This is expected. Simply hang up the call and move on to the next step
Go to recents on your phone app
This is the clock icon on the bottom of your phone app
Select All from the top left corner
Locate 857-957-6630 and select the blue “i” (information) icon on the right
Scroll to the bottom of the page and select “Unblock this caller”
To unblock the MFA number on Android:
Open up the phone app on your device and call 857-957-6630
You should receive a message stating “Sorry, the number you dialed is not in service”
This is expected. Simply hang up the call and move on to the next step
Go to recents on your phone app
Locate 857-957-6630 and select the “i” (information) icon on the right
Scroll to the bottom of the page and unblock the contact
The exact steps may vary depending on which Android device you use.
For example, on Samsung select “more” on the bottom right and then choose “unblock contact”
If you have any questions regarding the steps to take, please refer to your devices owner’s manual
When it’s time to log into your SimpliSafe® account using either the SimpliSafe® Mobile App, or SimpliSafe® Online Account, you’ll want to take the following steps:
Type in your username and password, then select Continue
A verification code will automatically be sent to the first Primary Contact’s number. If that is your number, skip to step 5
To select a different contact to receive the code, hit the arrow on the right of the phone number
Select the phone number you wish to receive the confirmation code. Once selected, the confirmation will be sent automatically
Note: If you receive a QR code prompting you to scan it on a device already logged in, hit the X on the screen to select a different confirmation method
Type in the confirmation code that you received via SMS or phone call and press Continue
You will now be logged into your SimpliSafe® account
*Please Note: MFA Confirmation Codes can only be sent to US and UK phone numbers. If you are traveling internationally, we strongly suggest logging out and logging back into the SimpliSafe® Mobile App prior to your departure. This will keep you logged in to the app for 30 days.
If you want to change the number that receives your account’s security code, follow these steps in the SimpliSafe® Mobile App:
