Alexa

I have a brand new Simplisafe system that will not integrate with Alexa. I'm told it's not my monitoring package but firmware update and that will take some time to develop. I can't be the only person with a new system with the issue. So is everyone who buys a new system without the use of Alexa?

@acostaever​ do you have your system subscribed to the $27.99 Interactive Plan? At this time, smart home integrations, including with Amazon Alexa, are available only at that subscription level.

That's ridiculous. Why should I pay you $30/month to be able to tell Alexa to turn off my home alarm.

@askerr I think there is some confusion here, either by you, who ever gave you an answer or for that matter, me.

If you purchased a new SS3 system, you have the ability to "integrate" your system with Google Assistant or Amazon Echo/Alexa now.  Realize there are only 2 things you can do with either, and it currently isn't much.

1. Alexa, turn on my Simplisafe system.
2. Alexa, what' shakin' with my Simplisafe system (or, what mode is my system in.

I may be a bit off on 2, but I and many others are wanting more integration, but in a secure way. For me, all I want is SS3 able to pass on an alarm indicator to Alexa so it can turn my house light group on.

Suggest you call SS support directly (or again) and get your question and answer clarified. (Please note I didn't go into monitoring plans as you said you were told that was not a factor).

Hi @askerr,

Any SimpliSafe user with either our Interactive Monitoring plan or our Self Monitoring with Camera Recording plan should have the ability to integrate their SimpliSafe system with Alexa or Google Assistant Smart Devices. Since we haven't officially released a firmware update in a while, it's not likely to be an issue with that either. Would you be able to elaborate on what exactly is or isn't happening when you try to integrate your account with Alexa?

Absolutely. When I go to the Alexa app and my Simplisafe skill, I'm told I need to link my account. When I try to link I get the following message:

Sorry, no compatible SimpliSafe systems are on your account. Alexa integration is only available with The All New SimpliSafe. Learn more about the most powerful SimpliSafe ever.

I have all the latest SimpliSafe gear. Account is set up. Everything works but I still can't link account with Alexa.

@simplisafe_admin​ nope. I have version 2 and although it appears to link the accounts Alexa says unable to arm system. The app says you need the all new simplisafe... I assume that is version 3. I have always had the full monitoring (now the 27.99 plan).

@Team S I have provided this feedback before, to customers and directly to SS, but it doesn't hurt to flog the dead horse one more time:

The current integration for SS and digital assistants is basically using your voice to arm the system. yay, all in lower case. And I get it, security is a concern for disarming and I applaud SS's dedication to insuring this continues but, at the same time, the current status makes this feature virtually useless.

Now the request: During an alarm state, pass a flag to the digital assistants that there is an active alarm. With that, properly coordinated with your competitors like Amazon, I can easily use their Skill feature to have all of the lights in my "House Lights" group go on. That would be a total of nine (9) lights in and outside my home that would have it look like a Christmas tree! Quite the deterrent and a great set up for your next Robbert commerical!

Don't bother passing on to your development team as I have requested this dozens of times over the  years and quite sure they are aware of it. :-)

Hi @askerr,

After looking further into your issue, it appears that a small number of our other customers have experienced this as well. We have our engineers looking into the cause and will work on fixing it as soon as it has been identified.

Getting the same error.

@mikem132​ by that, do you mean that you have the SimpliSafe Original system? Unfortunately, Smart Home integration is only available for the Gen 3 (current gen) SimpliSafe.

@mgoodst​ the other requirement is that you have the Interactive Monitoring Plan ($27.99) active, as Smart Home Integrations is part of that plan. Is that the plan you are currently subscribed to?

He just stated he does and has the interactive plan; I am having the exact same issues and have the latest generation of SimpliSafe.

App integration - Alexa.  Requiring the $27.00 per month monitoring subscription is a bit outdated.  Alexa integration should be available regardless of monitoring or not monitoring.  This cheapens the image of SimpliSafe.  Also, Alexa capabilities should be expanded significantly.

Just received my new setup and was so excited to connect it all up and start controlling through Alexa only to realise I need to pay for the pro plan to enable this - Seems crazy that such a basic feature is hidden behind a paywall that other system providers offer for free!

I'm not bothered about all the other pro features, just let us control through Alexa.

I think Simplisafe are missing a big trick here and would be a reason for people to choose alternative systems.
