Smart Lock Series 2 Installation Guide
Updated
Overview
The Smart Lock Series 2 makes sure that your door is always locked—even if you forget. It secures your door the minute you arm your system and unlocks it when you disarm. You can even set a timer to keep your door locked when you need it most. You don't even need a key. Just use the PIN Pad, Key Fob, or the SimpliSafe® Mobile App to lock up when you're home or away.

Before Getting Started
You’ll need to confirm that your existing door lock is a single-cylinder deadbolt. These deadbolts have a thumbturn on the inside of the door and a keyhole on the outside.
You will also need a Gen 3 SimpliSafe® System installed at your property, running the latest firmware version.

You’ll only need to pair the Smart Lock Series 2 to your system and name it within the app at this time. The rest of the app flow will be completed once your Smart Lock Series 2 has been physically installed
Physically Installing Your Smart Lock Series 2
On the outside of your door, use painter’s tape to secure the keyholed side of your existing lock into place
DO NOT remove the outdoor portion of your deadbolt during this process!
Set your door lock to an unlocked position
Remove your existing thumbturn. To do this, unscrew and remove the screws from your existing deadbolt’s thumbturn
You’ll need to hold onto these screws for a future step - so keep them nearby!
Remove the mounting plate from the Smart Lock Series 2 by sliding out the wing latches located on the back of the lock
Note which face of the mounting plate should be facing toward the door
Center the mounting plate on the thumbturn connector
Use the included washers and your existing deadbolt’s screws to attach it to the door
Try not to overtighten it during this step! That could bend the mounting plate
TIP: If your existing screws are too long, you can try using the screws included in the screws and adapters box
Use the adapter that fits the shape of your existing tailpiece when your deadbolt is in an unlocked position
Yellow, Blue or Red: Use this for vertical or horizontal tailpieces. Slide the adapter over the tailpiece with its notch pointing up and away from your door
Green: Use this for diagonal tailpieces. Have it facing toward your doorway
With the wing latches out on the Smart Lock Series 2, slide it over the adapter, slowly turning the thumbturn until the device aligns with the adapter and fully slides against the mounting plate
Secure the Smart Lock by sliding the wing latches inward and completely onto the mounting plate. They should be flush with the body of the Smart Lock
TIP: If you see a gap between the door and the back of the lock or cannot attach the lock, you may have bent the mounting plate. Try loosening the screws on the mounting plate and attempt to reattach the lock again.
Lock and unlock the door manually by turning the thumbturn on the Smart Lock to ensure everything is moving smoothly
Mounting the PIN Pad
Remove the battery tab from the PIN Pad
Use the double-sided adhesive to mount the PIN Pad to the outside of your door, or just off to the side
TIP: Make sure to leave at least 3 inches of space below the PIN Pad, so you can access it to change batteries in the future!
Calibrating the Smart Lock Series 2
Once you have completed installing your Smart Lock Series 2 and the PIN Pad, return to the SimpliSafe® Mobile App. In the App, you’ll finish the setup and go through a calibration process for your Smart Lock.
Testing the Smart Lock Series 2
Once the Smart Lock is calibrated, you may test your PIN Pad by entering your Master PIN, or a Custom PIN to unlock your door. Entering your PINs on the PIN Pad will also disarm your system when unlocking your door.
