Upgrading Your Smart Lock to the Smart Lock Series 2

The Smart Lock Series 2 is the same device you know and love, but with an updated look. If you currently have the Smart Lock and received a Smart Lock Series 2 as a replacement, or you want to upgrade your device to the new model, follow the steps below to install your new device. 

First, you will need to remove the Smart Lock from your SimpliSafe® system. 

  1. Open the SimpliSafe® Mobile App on your smartphone or tablet

  2. Select My System from the navigation bar at the bottom of the screen

  3. Select Device Settings

  4. Choose your Smart Lock

  5. Scroll down to the bottom of the screen and tap X Remove Device

Next, you will need to add the Smart Lock Series 2 to your SimpliSafe® account.

  1. Open the SimpliSafe® Mobile App on your smartphone or tablet

  2. Navigate to the three-bar menu in the upper left corner of the screen

  3. Choose Add Device or Camera

  4. Select Smart Lock

  5. The SimpliSafe® Mobile App will then prompt you to press a button on your Smart Lock Series 2 and name it

Next, you’ll need to remove the Smart Lock 

  1. Using the wide side of the included Release Tool as a lever, slide the wing latches on the Smart Lock outward on both sides

  2. Pull the Smart Lock off your door

  3. Remove the mounting plate, but keep the old screws 

Now, you’re ready to install the Smart Lock Series 2

  1. Slide the wing latches on the Smart Lock Series 2 out to remove the mounting bracket

  2. Using the same screws from the Smart Lock, install the mounting plate that came with your Smart Lock Series 2

  3. Using the adapter pieces that came with the Smart Lock Series 2, place the same color adapter piece that you used for your original Smart Lock on the mounting bracket

  4. Follow the in-app instructions to complete setup

After successfully installing your Smart Lock Series 2, you will need to install the PIN Pad that came with the device

  1. Using the Release Tool, remove the existing PIN Pad on your door from its bracket, but leave the old bracket installed

  2. Remove your new PIN Pad from its bracket using the same Release Tool

  3. Attach the new PIN Pad to the bracket on your door
