How do I troublshoot the error message "Your siren is not responding"?

When setting or canceling the alarm system, I get the message that 'the siren is not responding'. And no other info is available.

Hi @jdell ,

Just like with sensors, that would just be a general sign that the Siren is having trouble checking in with your Base Station, which could be for a number of reasons.

First thing we should ask, though: How long has it been since you bought your siren, and/or since you last changed the batteries? The Siren uses 4x AA alkalines, which should last about 8-12 months.

My siren flags up as not responding.  This has happened a couple of times in the last month.  I’ve put in new batteries on both occasions.  It now says it is not responding again.

@robhigginson where is the Extra Siren located? It could be that there's interference—from either physical or wireless sources—that is making it harder for the Extra Siren to communicate with the Base Station. 

 

We recommend scanning the area around the Extra Siren and check for things like thick walls, heavy appliances, or WiFi-enabled devices. If there is anything like that around the Extra Siren, try moving it to a new location and see if the Not Responding error messages continue.
