Firmware 1.5 (January 2020 Update)

Hi folks,

We're happy to announce that firmware update 1.5 is now live. We strongly recommend that you update your Base Station to this version, which includes many important performance and security improvements.

If you've never updated before, here's how:
  1. Make sure you're connected to WiFi
  2. Check that an update is available by heading over to your Keypad and looking for a Gear icon
  3. Press the side of the screen where the Gear icon is, and follow the on-screen instructions

Highlights

User PIN names now show up in the App timeline; the Base Station will now offer to connect to WiFi when it checks for updates; performance improvements and fixes.

@Johnny M

Is the update still rolling out?  I don't have it, and I am manually checking on my keypad. I emailed SimpliSafe to push the update, but they replied I have to call them and provide my safe word. I don't want to sit on  hold for hours.

Lance how did you messenger to get the update pushed?

I just messaged them on messenger and they said they will check on it, next thing i know my app said i had it and when i got home both keypads had it on there ready. Im still on messenger with them now because somehow something got screwed up as i helped sign someone up and with the monitoring and i want my 3 free months of monitoring lol but they cant find it but it will get sorted out.

I called support today to have them push the update and they said they could not because my base won't let him.  It is up to date they said, but the version on the keypad is  1.4.20 and the base is 1.4.58.  So I am confused.  Is this firmware only pushing out to certain system?  Custom Service clueless?  Maybe I don't need it?  Or am I just out of luck?

I called last week and they pushed it to me but it went to my app but not my system so i messaged them through messenger and they did it and i got home it was ready for me, but they said same thing with me that my system is up to date and no matter how much I argued it didn't matter but i got it all working now and updated.

Really?  They respond to Facebook messenger?  Interesting.  I'll have to keep that in mind.

So after thinking about it. I tried this. I unplug my base and remved the batteries to let it reboot. Now 3 hours later I have the update on my keypad and the notification on my app.  Next Step install it and see if it works.

^ Well, that's a new one! (rebooting to get the update notice).  Coincidence or just good timing, who knows!

I got the update last night. Updated with no issues. Took about 10 minutes to update each keypad.

To Simplisafe: please put this information in a centralized area on the website. CRC, Help Center or whatever, but not in the forums.

I agree with Captain11 100%. You have a built in message system on your online account page that should be utilized to notify customers. The phone app should do the same. The message at the time should simply be "We are rolling out a new firmware update starting today if not received by XX date call CS. These are important events that if missed in the forum will never be known to the customer therefore rendering their system to be less than 100% effective to secure their Family/Property. And talking to customer service at this juncture is NO guarantee of proper information being relayed to the customer. I have on previous occasion been told by CS that my system was up to date then requested a supervisor who then verified I was not and sent me a firmware update because I happened to stumble across the information on the forum and the update had been done months before my call. NO one should have to stumble across anything to make sure their system is running 100% to protect their Family/Property.

Still no update here.  I'll probably ignore it when it comes, anyway.  Me and updates don't generally get along.  I wouldn't want to brick my system and have to deal with support.

Our update went awesome and i even notice its more responsive as in when i open a door the ding is more immediate than before and when arming it doesn't lag anymore its immediately so im digging it. It may be just me but i am noticing a difference in some things but all for the good.
