Still testing, long read warning ⚠️

Long read.

Documenting also for the evidence pile.😁

Where it was mounted.

Where its at now testing.

In case you can't see it now, laying on the deck in the shade. Follow the Solar cable. 😂

That camera had been mounted since purchase between the french doors.

There's one under the deck looking at the cellar doors and windows. Both cameras are on test Base 2, no monitoring, no performance mode, self only. Both have opened in a couple seconds to 4ish seconds two days in a row. Test Base 2 on top of gun cabinet in bedroom.

These two on front portico.

Both on original Base, right camera in pic opens faster than left camera. Left camera is closer to original base, original is self with cameras, supposed to have performance mode.

Original base is in the computer room, first window to left of front door, on top of a tall wooden computer desk.

Nothing has ever been consistent in two years, IMHO because the cameras Firmware is full of bugs, especially performance mode. No performance mode seems to work better than with performance mode.

The portico if you look is one wall, wood though, the outer bricks and plaster behind is another wall, walk in and to the left two closets are back to back, I'm guessing 3 walls. I'd put the original base in the front living room closet if it had a receptacle. Computer room behind 2nd closet with original base in there.

The bases, original and test base have been moved and tested in almost every receptacle I have.

If you zoom the SS cam solar panel deck camera on French doors, you'll see a Wyze V4 to it's right, mag base,  stuck on a steel door, my Aurora cam for time lapse videos.

Never fails, always works along with 13 other Wyze inside and out that "almost" always work without a hitch. I'm a beta tester, so app bugs expected from Wyze app.

Point being, I've made a fair comparison. With inexpensive cameras vs very expensive cameras. No comparison as to operation, Wyze wins hands down every time and I've had 1.5 years or so.

12/28/24 is the drop dead date of two years since purchase. I'll play until then and make my decisions of filing complaints from there for other folks. I expect nothing and will eat the total investment of about 1,500.00, sensors etc. included.

Kurt (SS tech or something) once offered OD cam refund to get rid of me, I'm pushing 71, can't climb ladders to remove them. Paid my son to screw them to the wall, more money out. If I paid to remove, pack and ship, it'd probably be a wash. Not worth it.

And secondly I didn't trust Simplisafe to actually send a check expediently.

The only return documentation is a shipping label. 😂 So, I've tried much harder and diligently than Simplisafe ever has to make these scrap cameras and bases work, extend RF etc.

There might be some mounting changes I could make, eliminate a wall etc. Also not worth the hassle or effort if it also fails.

But, there are no suitable mounting brackets, upside down reduces cameras range of detection etc. Oh sure, some hoaky homemade mount, but I'm not doing that.

No one calls to follow up from SS, no one SS asks any questions. No one answers emails. Nothing. NADA.

They just drop you and ignore you at some point in your complaints and their systems failure to perform properly. As advertised.

PS: the cheap part, sensors, work well.

@cornholio 😂

I like kicking a dead horse, glutton for punishment.

I'll throw in 3 or 4 stents, a minor transient ischemic attack (TIA) and raise you some high blood pressure.😉

What the testing seems to be telling me, is to call the evil retention dept.🤢🤮 and downgrade all cameras to just self monitoring.

Somehow eliminates the performance mode bugs. No detections, but at least live views "might" work,.. a little while.

My guess is it throws a bypass around that section of firmware glitches.

🤔 Observing.👀🫣🧐🔎🔍⚖️

It's everywhere today. Some extremely slow, some fast. No rhyme or reasons.

There's just no place left to move the bases to.

After 2 years, I suppose I'm at the point of I just can't fix it. The firmware, which is what I suspect, is out of my hands.

I'll call Monday 178 days and downgrade everything to just self and just give up "for now". I want to verify their in compliance with Click to Cancel.😁

And hopefully some dev stumbles across firmware bugs down the road and improves it.

In the meantime, I'll start installing a POE switch, Ethernet cables and IP cameras to replace this stuff.
