Help Center - Getting back to basics

As I did my daily search for Simplisafe FCC filings (yeah, 99.9% dull but do hit some gold now and then) I thought I would head over to the Help Center and start a daily routine there for things I expected to easily find.  To my surprise, I couldn't find Owner Manuals.  Tried several modifications and still came up empty. Yes, I did find several articles that "sort of" answered the query, but not the actual owner manuals.

Apologies if I missed them, but Davey, they should be there clearly posted by bullet point for each product. KISS should be the golden rule, and this example is a clear sample of that. Same for the firmware update section of the community. Yep, it's there in conversation form, but how about a concise bullet point listing of the current firmware for all products in one place?

Don't get me wrong, this new community is light years ahead of the old state of the art 1997 community, but, it can be better.

What do you think? What suggestions do you have?

Hi Captain,

We have the Manuals on their own dedicated page here. But you're right, folks would be expecting to find that same info on our Help Center, and we could do with a bit of consolidating.

And you're right, the primary point of my firmware update posts is to open up conversation - so if anyone has trouble or stumbles upon a bug, I can report it to out engineers.

Both are great suggestions, however, and would be great for our Help Center team to keep in mind as we work on future improvements.

@davey_d Wow, didn't even see that page, but it is missing many of the products....simplicam, outdoor camera, door lock, etc, so an update is in order. Thank you for the awesome quick reply and the link, look forward to ongoing improvements!

I need some primer videos on basic usage and common glitches or problems..like a motion sensor went off while I was at work....... What do I do now?  the red light is on my little tower....how to turn it off....  how do I know where the motion sensor is located that went off to resolve this problem.  etc etc....

Thank you

@terrystrand Welcome to the forums.  Some easy things to remember: first, if you have general operating questions, or any for that matter, do not hesitate to pick up the phone, call 888-910-1458 and ask all of those questions to a friendly, patient Simplisafe support agent. I suggest you choose the phone menu option of setting up your system for the first time. I say that as your questions may be basic, but important, and they will be the best to walk you through. I take it from your post you are a very new customer and you will do well to get comfortable with your system with an agent to guide. you.

As far as videos, there are few, as SS is working on improving the Help Center, but the aritlces are, for the most part, very good and getting better.  A link to reach the help center is on the bottom of each page.

The search tool is very good, and if you type something like "what does the red light on my base mean" you will get a helpful artile that I have put in the link below. Click on it and you will have information on all of the light status meanings in one place.

https://support.simplisafe.com/hc/en-us/articles/360029925871-What-do-the-lights-on-my-SimpliSafe-Base-Station-mean-

Whether it is a red pulse or a solid red, your answers are in this article. Again, I encourage you to call SS now. They are open 365 days a year, 8am to midnight eastern.

@terrystrand Welcome to the Community!

It sounds like a motion event was triggered on your system. In the event this was a false alarm, the first thing I'd recommend is going over this article from our Help Center to identify the best steps to take for positioning your Motion Sensors.

Next, to clear the alarm event from the Base Station (including that red light, which means there was a recent alarm), you'll need to either dismiss the alarm notification on the KeyPad or disarm and re-arm the system from the KeyPad or within the SimpliSafe app.

I'd be happy to answer any questions you might have about your system. Alternatively, our team is available by phone or through live chat to answer your questions in real-time with you.

All the best,

Alexandria C.
