Water Sensor Battery Very Short Life Span

I have six Water Sensors throughout my home. For some reason, I have had to replace the battery in one of them each month since I installed it four months ago while I have not had to replace any of the batteries in the others since I installed them well over a year ago. I have been using different packages and different manufactures: Duracell and Energizer. Anyone have any idea why this one Water Sensor is burning through batteries while the others go so much longer?

@Signalguys could be too far from the base, or more likely, defective. Call SS support, troubleshoot and get it replaced at nc if necessary.

It is the closest Water Sensor to the base station. Last time I had to call SS support I was on hold for an hour so I will have to wait to call until I have an hour or more to kill.

@ Signalguys I believe you will be pleasantly surprised if you call today.  Last fall SS opened a new call center in Virginia and greatly expanded their staff through a 3rd party company. I had to call several times installing my daughter's expanded SS3 system when she and her family moved into their new house and all of the calls were picked up in seconds!  If you get a chance to call, please post your experience here.

Hi @Signalguys,

As a SimpliSafe veteran you may have already done this, but have you checked for possible sources of signal interference? Interference or a weaker signal, as Captain11 alluded to, can cause your device to work a bit harder to get the signal to your Base Station. This, in turn, uses more power lowering the lifespan of the battery in the device. Since you have multiple Water Sensors, another option before calling our Support Team could be to swap that sensor with another one of your sensors. That will allow us to see if the problem stays with the sensor or at that location.

SS Social Team - As I said I have 6 of these type sensors and this one is THE CLOSEST to the base station so signal strength should NOT be an issue. I have other sensors (water, entry, motion) throughout my home and no others have this issue.

Close does not mean there is not interference.  I've got a CO2 sensor which was not reliable literally 3 feet from the base - On the other side of a bunch of ductwork (metal. which seriously degrades radio signals).  Seriously, swap this water sensor with another one which is not giving problems, and see if the problem stays with the location or the sensor.
