Smoke detector date 2013/11/20..is it still good?

I need a new battery for the model SSSD1 smoke alarm. That's not a problem. However, the date concerns me. Is this unit still usable and if not does SimpliSafe warrant the unit with a new one since it's part of the total system?

Per consumer reports, about 10 years.

SS warranty is 3 yeas and, at least for me, its my family so how much is a life worth? In my book I would replace it. The SS3 is an excellent upgrade.

FWIW, generally speaking, warranty covers defects in material or workmanship. Old age in itself is neither.
