Smoke and Co Sensors - Life Expectantcy

At this time some of my SS3 sensors are  3+ years in operation (others less). All are working fine with a thorough cleaning on a bi-monthly basis but what are the signs or time period they should be replaced?

Also, suggest an article be added to the Help Center to answer this.

Hi Captain,

Of course you know that our Carbon Monoxide Detector and Smoke Detector do function pretty much like non-SimpliSafe units. The core difference is that they connect to a complete security system and can benefit from monitoring.

According to the NFPA, you should replace your Smoke Detectors every 10 years or so. And Carbon Monoxide Detectors, since they work by a chemical reaction, should only last about 5-7 years. For both of these, you'll get an Error warning (on the Keypad and the app) to let you know it's time.

@Johnny M so to confirm about the notifications, for SS3 I will get notifications about low battery life (which I knew) AND end of life for the sensor itself (That I didn't know if I undertand you  correctly.)

Please confirm. If this is correct, then defiintely the Help Center needs to be updated now. Even on a Google site and general search, all that came up was the battery aspect.

Thanks!
