Range and Tempurate Specs For Smoke Detector
I have a shed in the back yard I am considering installing smoke detector in as I have a small solar system in it.
Is there a published distance the unit can be from the SS base station? I would estimate the shed is 40 feet from the rear of the house.
In addition is there a published temperature range the unit can operate in, for example its 85 degrees F outside where I live at the moment and it can get a bit below 0 in the winter.

As far as the distance, depends on a variety of factors, including what your house and shed are sided with. I can tell you I installed a SS3 system at my daughter's house and they have a detached garage. Three entry sensors (garage entrance door, garage door and garage window) and all work fine. Both do not have aluminum or metal siding.
For temperature and humidity, whole other ball game. Of course, SS does not recommend any of their sensors (except those made for outside elements) to be an damp or where the temps go beyond their recommended limits. Note I do have a motion and entry sensor in my garage and both do fine with temps from single digits to high 90's. I would call support and ask.
Bottom line, given what you described, the smoke sensor will be officially a no go from SS.

Were you looking for this page? www.simplisafe.com/manual
It's a dedicated page, not in the Help Center just yet.
anonuser2828,
The Setup Guide for the Gen 3 SimpliSafe doesn't mention specific ranges, though I can tell you that over open air, we estimate a maximum of about 800ft. The captain is correct about environmental factors - sources of interference like dense physical objects or other wireless signals can decrease the range quite a bit. For example, if your shed is made of wood or plastic, that shouldn't be too much trouble. But metal is most likely a no-go.
Temp-wise, we have the full list in the Owner's Guide, Page 21. But for all sensors (that is, everything except the Base Station and cameras), we recommend that you install between 32°F-120°F, with 90% max humidity.

Update: found it. Manual, vs manuals. :-) Also, the manuals appear that they may be out of date, including the smoke sensor. Please review and confirm.
Thanks Johnny M!

It's because I typed in the link wrong! I've fixed it, but it's the same as the one you just posted.
Captain11,
Those manuals posted for the Carbon Monoxide Detector and the Smoke Detector are indeed for the Gen 2 units (SSCO1 and SSSD1). Since the units are almost identical to the current gen units, the info for care and use should still apply. But of course I'll see about getting the more current editions up instead.
