Is the smoke detector just a re-brand?
I've been trying to figure out why simplisafe refuses to offer hard wired smoke and CO detectors, and why their detectors seem to lag behind every other smart smoke detector on the market, when I came across this. https://www.frys.com/product/8655220?store=16&source=google&gclid=CjwKCAiAmO3gBRBBEiwA8d0Q4okVPk8xwm9kHbkuNridA10wI23IKJWL9m5FLf4W8IC2kXS02zTv4xoCtmIQAvD_BwE
Is it just me, it does that look just like the simplisafe smoke detector?

It looks crystal clear to me that it's either a rebrand, or at least uses the same housing, since they CLEARLY come out of the same mold.
As for FCC.gov, I was hoping somebody would wander by that was familiar enough with FCC filings to have looked it up, or at least know where to look it up because my bet is that they sourced their smoke detectors from whoever manufactures the ones at Fry's, and just added a receiver to their base station.

Lots of companies use manufactures that do contract work, so yes, there can be similarities. Sewing machines come to mind.

I realize that whether or not it's a re-brand doesn't directly impact whether or not they offer wired detectors, but if it's a rebrand it absolutely could explain why they refuse to release a compliant product when their customers have been asking for it since day one.
