SmartLock not aligning to cylinder

I am using the red plastic piece.

It does not align with the smartlock unless I turn it almost 45-degrees.

I've tried to flip the plastic piece, I've looked to see if I could adjust the cylinder, but no luck.

Any ideas?

Hi @cdburns123 yes, I would recommend that you start at that angle when you install. During the calibration step, the lock will determine the true positions of "open" and "closed".

My kwikset standard type deadbolt has the pin position at the 3 o’clock position when deadbolt is at open position. The simplisafe lock wants the pin to be positioned at about the 2 o’clock position at the open position. Consequently the kwikset deadbolt is partially extended when the simplisafe lock is installed. I set it up and the lock tried to calibrate but went into error. Need some help.

I'm having the same issue. Has there been any resolution to this?

Hi @cjthom,

Are you experiencing the same thing as the OP that, when you try to install your Smart Lock, it will only align when at an angle? If so, I would recommend that you begin installing it at that angle. When you calibrate your Smart Lock, it will find your door's "locked" and "unlocked" positions.

This is wrong. The problem was the the red piece needs to be flipped over. It has a front and back side.

@chriskh Coming to say thank you, this is literally the answer. Failed a basic rule for engineering if it doesn't go there it shouldn't fit there. Especially if you are not going to provide clearer instructions.

So I had this exact same problem on my kwikset. The solution after hours of trying things is hard. Simply flip the red piece over on the male lock section. Lol. There is a front and back side of the price.
