Anyone else notice their Smart Lock pin pad numbers getting "smooth" for your systems pin code? Major security risk.

Has anyone else noticed their Smart Lock pin pad "coating" getting worn down and smoothed on your systems pin code numbers? Noticed it on ours earlier today and thought maybe one of our kids put in the pin with greasy fingers so I cleaned it off but nope, that wasn't the problem and indeed the "coating" is getting worn smooth on our systems pin code. Nothing makes you feel safer than knowing someone can look at a pin pad on the outside of your door and pretty much know what your security systems pin code is.

I just reached out to SimpliSafe and got an email back that I have to call them so they can access and verify my account when this has nothing to do with my account but rather a security flaw in their Smart Lock pin pads. Wondering if I should even bother calling or if this will go the way of the indoor cameras microphone issue and just never get resolved.

I’m having the same issue but my numbers aren’t only smooth but have worn through the black coating on the pin pad.  Was there any resolution to this?

Hi @JCWaters

Thanks for bringing this to our attention. The best option would be to contact our support team directly to get a replacement PIN pad for your Smart Lock. You can contact them with the details here

Additionally, I'm going to pass along this thread and information to our engineering team for review.
