Wireless Battery Powered Video Doorbell

You website does not give enough specifics on the products.  I ordered the doorbell system and when I was ready to install it I found out that it requires electricity to operate.  I don't have electricity at my front door.  I have been using a battery powered chime.

WHEN WILL YOU HAVE A BATTERY POWERED DOORBELL SYSTEM?

Thanks

I would like to get rid of my Ring doorbell and have an all SS system, so please tell the product manager. I am sure there are thousands in my shoes- just never had a wired doorbell.

Ring has a battery operated doorbell.  So at this time we are paying for Simply Safe and Ring.  We bought the Simply Safe system first and when the wiring on our doorbell failed, we had to order the Ring doorbell.  Down the road we may replace our system and go to Ring for all.  For now it all works.

We get a month of battery use per charge.  I have an extra battery charged to replace.

I have had several wired doorbells fail on me now.
I think they should add a battery operated doorbell to Simplisafe offerings. Hope they read these threads.

Re: video doorbell
I have NO WAY to get AC wiring to my front door.
I need a video doorbell that will work with Simplisafe system. Does anyone have any suggestions?
It needs to be either battery or solar video doorbell

Hi @oldcrate!

Thanks for the feedback. Unfortunately no, the only video doorbell compatible with SimpliSafe is our own. And yes, right now we've only got the one model that needs to plug into an existing wired doorbell. We'll definitely keep you updated if we ever come out with a model that fits your needs!

In the meantime, we do have the Wireless Outdoor Camera. Unfortunately, it's currently out of stock. But it's fully battery-powered and can be mounted anywhere, so that might be a good solution for watching over your door.

Don't know if you're keeping track, but I'll add another request here for a batter doorbell. We're using your system in two different locations and neither one of them has power to the front door. As such, we can't use the doorbell.

All of your competitors have a battery operated doorbell, so it seems like something you should have too.

Ditto, I need a video doorbell that runs on battery (like Ring has).  I do not have AC wiring at my front or back door.  Please add this to your products so I can dump Ring and switch my 2 doorbells to SimpliSafe.  Thanks

Throwing my 2 cents in as well. We have loved our Simplisafe video doorbell for several years but we just moved into a house with two doors that really need a video doorbell and they have absolutely no way of getting power to the front door. I really don't want to boot Simplisafe and our subscription service but the video doorbell is the most important part of our system and I really wouldn't keep paying Simplisafe if we had to use a different company's battery powered video doorbell.

@tchrisman2 I absolutely hear you. We have submitted this feature request for a battery powered doorbell to our dev team, but unfortunately we do not have any updates on its status.

As Davey mentioned above, we do have an Outdoor Camera which could maybe be a good solution as it is wireless and battery powered.

I know a big part of Simplisafe is it being affordable and wireless. Can you please come out with a wireless doorbell camera for your customers! I don't want all these brands for my security system. It would complete the whole system if this were to come out.

Since you now have wireless cameras are wireless door bells in the mix?

A Wireless Doorbell is definitely one of the top requests, which our engineering team is very well aware of. We'll keep you updated if we ever launch one!

I have been a satisfied Simplisafe customer for years.  Your suite of security devices is nearly complete, especially with the addition of the wireless outdoor camera.  I would like to add my vote for the development of a WIRELESS doorbell cam.   I rent a townhome and although my Simplisafe system provides me with total peace of mind over the security of my home, I would really appreciate the ability to monitor my front door and package deliveries.   I am resisting the purchase of a competitor product because I trust the Simplisafe brand and prefer to integrate my home security under a single TRUSTED system.  I remain hopeful Simplisafe will release a wireless doorbell cam in the near future.

Agree with wireless.  Newer homes don't have doorbell electrical outlets and would like battery option just like outdoor camera.

It would be great to have a wireless video doorbell vs having to wire it to an existing doorbell.

Hi @Alex ,

The request for a wireless Video Doorbell has been requested before, so I went ahead and moved your post into this thread. We have submitted this request to our devs, and once we hear more from them we will provide an update in this thread!

I accidentally ordered a doorbell thinking it was battery operated or had the option. I just moved into a new house and there is no doorbell, so for folks like me it is quite expensive to have someone come out and drill through concrete and setup electrical just for something like what ring doorbell has. I really would prefer to get something from SimpliSafe so it is fully integrated, vs. buying a ring.

Are there any plans for this?

Hi @wesleyjake ,

Merged your thread into this one. Right now, we have no news regarding a new battery version of the Video Doorbell. But if that ever changes, we'll keep you updated here.

Thanks @davey_d I appreciate the quick reply. Hopefully the dev team is working on something. In the meantime I'll see about returning it, or I may try to somehow rig this to an outside plug. For anyone else reading this, amazon blink makes a simple outdoor camera with a battery that has two way audio, that I used to use at my old house. There is no "bell" but could be a cheap alternative for some users.

Overall though the simply safe cameras are an outstanding quality and I have found the setup and customer service amazing!

Is a battery powered video doorbell in the works? The battery powered camera work great but would still like to have this option.

Hi @jenwalker1979,

A wireless, battery-powered Video Doorbell has been requested before, and we have submitted it to our dev team for their consideration. I do not have any news on whether this device is in production or not, but when we hear more we will let everyone know over in this thread. Be sure to follow that thread so you will be notified whenever we have an update!

I would also like to know if a wireless doorbell is in the works please. Our home cannot install a wired video doorbell.

@bcwhitemarsh @KristenMPath unfortunately, we currently have no news about a new wireless battery powered video doorbell in the works.

We do have the Wireless Outdoor Camera, which can watch over your doorstep, and allows for 2-way audio communication. You can learn more about it here.

The same thing happened to me. I purchased two video doorbells, only to learn they need to be hardwired to work. This should be made clear in the product description.

@krswed apologies for the inconvenience. We do list an existing wired doorbell setup under our requirements on our website. But thank you for the feedback.

4 years on from your question and still no sign of a battery powered version. I have just purchased an Eufy wireless doorbell as a result.

When will Simplisafe start listening to their customers?

SimpliSafe -- PLS catch up to Ring!  I have 2 SimpliSafe whole-house systems, but one house does not have power at the front door ... so I have a lonely Ring  BATTERY video cam there, and the battery lasts for 5-6 months, sometimes more, without a problem.  But I also now have to SUBSCRIBE to a RING plan, along with 2 SimpliSafe plans, for that one application.  Wasted resources but necessary.  PLEASE develop and release a wireless doorbell video cam!

Ypu can go on Amazon and get an ohmkat for simplisafe video doorbell and it plugs into an outlet and then to the back of the doorbell

Hello,

The only reason I can't fire Ring right now and go completely with SimpliSafe is that you don't have a battery-powered wireless Video Doorbell Pro.  I want to replace the battery-powered Ring doorbell at my patio door and use WiFi to connect to the system.  It must also activate the door chime wirelessly as well.

@slschn2015 We have submitted this request to our devs, but at this time we do not have any updates about if it's in the works. Once we hear more, we'll post an update in this thread.

I agree with all the head scratching comments about the battery powered video doorbell.

I love my SimpliSafe system, but I need to have a Ring Doorbell. Doesn't make sense.

Thanks!

Amen!!! We were gifted with an alarm system, only to find out our doorbell can’t be used bc we don’t have electricity at front door. I’m not spending $600 for electricity to be run. Returning Simple Safe and getting Ring instead.

4 years since the first comment on this string and still no wireless doorbell.  Cancelled our SS subscription and have Ring now... waiting for SS to take customer customer requests and suggestions to heart, it's literally the title of this page.

Any updates on this it is very frustrating to have other systems have a battery-powered doorbell but not Simplisafe.
