Timeline - door open/closed

Why does the system not show door open/closed in the timeline with the system is disabled?  I would like to see if a senor, in this case door open/close, was triggered in the timeline.

Add Sensor triggers to Timeline even when system is Off

Hi all,

Secret Alerts is a feature that sets each sensor so that when it's triggered, you'll get both an entry in the Timeline event log, and a notification on your phone. To answer @TheRealLeoH. It's a per-sensor setting, so you can find the option in the Devices section of the SimpliSafe app, or your online account. You'll also be able to decide when Secret Alerts are active, between Home, Away, and Off Modes. Learn more about Sensor settings here.

One thing to note is that the Entry Sensor sends open triggers to the Timeline, but not closed. So you'll get Secret Alerts only for open triggers as well. And unfortunately no, there's currently no option to have the Timeline entry only, without the corresponding phone notification. I've moved this thread to the Suggestions section in case others would like to see the feature added as well!

Dave could it be possible to add closed notifications ? I have a sensor on the garage door. It would be awesome also if a notification could be created when the garage door is in the open position for a length of time, thus avoiding open all night situations. Thank you

This is off topic but...

On another unnamed system, when my garage door opened, it produced a Voice Response - "Overhead Door" That would be ideal when at home and the garage door opens without my approval.

Would setting the secret alert do what you are asking?

No. I don’t want a text or email, just reported in the timeline.

I came here to ask just that. So I’m not crazy that I can’t find that either.

by the way, how do you set a secret alert?

i returned my system because it did not have this feature and went back to the previous system I was using.  This was important enough that I have to have it.  Seems like a basic function to me.

I'm very sorry to hear that, chale. We hope that in the future, you'll consider us again.

@davey_d How about taking this information to your engineers to have them implement this feature. I shouldn't have to add 2 sensors per entry point to get notifications and trigger the alarm when armed. My 11 yr old system had this feature since day one and I agree with Chale as I am about to return my system due to the lack of common sense features.

Returning it too. For some reason with secret alert it now doesn’t play a beep on door opened. This is missing key features. Was on xfinity then simplisafe now going to adt

@mac that is the intended behavior. Secret Alerts are intended to be secret. So it's either you have that enabled, or the Door Chime, but not both. But thank you for your feedback.

I would like to see this as well without needing to use Secret Alerts.

This is pretty shocking to me. What a basic feature! Gosh I hate learning the hard way. As I can no longer return the system, it's going in the garbage. Such a waste.

I just installed my system & assumed this function would be available. I agree with all the previous comments that it should be a simple fix to add this to the timeline & is a critical function.  My other gripe is not having a wireless indoor camera.  My old system had  a wireless motion camera combo.  I only switched because I received equipment free when I switched internet providers.
