Secret Alert with Chime

I've found I cannot have my cake and eat it too apparently. I like the secret alert push notification to my when when an entry sensor is triggered. I'd also like for the base station to chime as well. Base station will chime when silent alert is disabled on a sensor (i.e. front door). When silent alert is enabled, the base station does not chime - I'd like both.

How do I stop the annoying chime every time a door opens with the system off ?

Any updates on pushed alert and chime from base station, vs just one or the other?

Hi @djrosehome,

We have no updates on this feature at this time, but will continue to let the team know all suggestions and requests.

@harriet_c please do. This is a must have feature that should be trivial to implement.

@harriet_c can you please provide an update on this? If this is not being updated I need to return my system. This is such a basic functionality of almost any alarm system..

Each sensor in each mode should have the option to activate/ deactivate any of the following:

• Base Station Chime

• Push Notification

• Trigger Alarm (instant or delayed)

Just spent a few hundred on this system and it’s going straight back in the mail because of this. It’s a total functionality flaw. I really didn’t want to go with an Amazon product but that’s a base level expectation with a security system.

Push notification + chime is an absolutely must have feature and should be completed as soon as possible.

The dev time on this can’t be more than a couple hours so I hope you can get this completed quickly.

How? How could this be overlooked? Don't call it "Secret". Just call it "Silent", and offer both an Audible and a Silent Notification for each Device. Not "Either / Or". Did this really not come up during the development of SimpliSafe's code scripting? Yikes.

This shouldn't be hard. Simpler for everyone to make each behavior settable for each sensor in each mode:

- immediate alert - just alert whomever is set up for it when sensor is triggered

- immediate chime - this is currently a global setting but I have interior doors with sensor that I don't want to chime in Home

- delayed alarm - obviously not available when in Off

At a very basic level most alarm systems let the user choose what alerts happen when a sensor is triggered. I am very confused why this issue was posted over a year ago and still not fixed?

To second what jimp said:

Each sensor in each mode should have the option to activate/ deactivate any of the following:

• Base Station Chime

• Push Notification

• Trigger Alarm (instant or delayed)

Would love to know if this is on your radar? If not I need to return this system I just bought :(

If I am upstairs working and I hear the sensor chime, I want to look at my phone and be able to tell if someone opened a window or if my child is headed out the front door to the busy street.

Major safety concern.

Is this being updated? Just installed my new system today after moving from Vivint... Shocked to not have this feature available. I don't want to return the system but I've had this feature for over 5 years with Vivint and it's a necessity.

@jesseandmels at this time, there has not been a change, and it's still an either/or setting. The intent of the Secret Alert is to be just that - secret. So when the feature is on, it won't generate a chime or voice prompt, only the notification to your phone.
