Power goes out, then back on, but system stays stuck in outage mode

A real-world scenario: you're away on vacation and there's a power outage at your Simplisafe-protected home. The base station backup battery runs for a few hours. Meanwhile, all your arming schedules are automatically disabled and you lose app control of your system, even if your wifi is working fine on its own battery backup. The base station has severed its wifi connection to save power while running on batteries. Thankfully, the power is eventually fully restored.

However, even with full power and wifi again, your Simplisafe system is not able to be controlled by the app. "There is a power outage" is displayed by the app for days, even when power and wifi have both been available for days! The only solution the Simplisafe system deems acceptable is unplugging/replugging the power cable and battery removal/reinstall for the base station, or else you're stuck with whatever setting was active when the power went out initially. How long were you going to be away again?

My suggestion is to allow all Simplisafe base stations to resume their normal settings after power and wifi have been restored, not require a physical reset of the base station to regain app control.

Thanks, and good luck with fixing that.

@oneoffmany This is not normal behavior for the base.  We have lost power over the years and the base and entire system works fine on the battery back up and goes back online when power is restored without issue. Suggest you contact and troubleshoot with support, and if necessary, have the base replaced.

@captain11 The base station was out of warranty (3+ years) so after replacing the batteries and walking through a few troubleshooting steps on the phone with customer service, the only option was buying a new base station. Ironically, the base station not recognizing the power returning after an outage didn't happen with the batteries taken out! Reconnected in a few seconds. Decided to use my own UPS for less than half of what I was quoted for a new base station. Works just fine now, but not practical for everyone.

@oneoffmany That is unfortunate but glad you found a solution. A few other items. 1. Do you have a Core or above monitoring plan during those 3 years? If so,  you are covered. 2. Check Costco or Sams Club from time to time. I posted around Christmas Costco had a 10 piece system for $99, which of course included the base, a keypad and even a Series 2 OD camera. I know several friends that I mentioned it to who bought a system just for backup  and expansion parts.
