I've had simplisafe for about 5-6 years now and have convinced the vast majority of my friends to get Simplisafe also. We regularly house sit for each other because we all have pets and have become accustomed to the convenience of the Simplisafe app. We couldn't tell you the last time we used the keypad. Now I know you can setup custom PINS for people and all, but we all already have the system and the app. So here is my idea:
House sitter mode:
1. Homeowner plans on leaving and is having another SimpliSafe customer house sit for them. Homeowner wants to give them the ability to enter the home and disarm/rearm the system without having to worry about PINS and rushing to the keypad. Homeowner opens their SS app, selects "Add sitter". Homeowner enters a start and end date that the sitter will have LIMITED access to their SS system. A QR code AND an invite code is presented.
2. The sitter, who is also a SS customer and App user, either scans the QR code OR enters the invite code.
3. The homeowner gets a message to approve the sitter and recieves their name and such from their account as verification.
4. Starting on the day set by the homeowner, the sitter will be able to switch to their home in the app and have ONLY the following controls. OFF, HOME, AWAY.....that's it. They can also see events in the timeline ONLY between the start/end dates.
5. When the end date comes or the homeowner revokes the sitter, the home will no longer show in the sitters app.
6. The entire period between the start/end dates, the homeowner when they open their app will see a banner at the top reminding them a sitter has access to their home.
Other nice features to the above: when inviting, the homeowner can also toggle "Camera access". This allows the sitter live access to their cameras only during the start/end dates. Also, the sitter can review clips created ONLY during the start/end date. The user cannot download or delete the clips, only view.

This needs to have been implemented yesterday. The fact that this has been talked about for 3 years with no actions taken is staggering. Security company that thinks sharing your account password with others is quite shocking to say the least.
I live with other people who are not relatives, but it would make sense for them to use the system as well and get notifications since they are living here and the system is for their safety as well. But the only option I have is to login to their device with my username and password and then once a month I have to login again? This model makes no sense and needs to be addressed ASAP.
Do people at SimpliSafe think all their customers live alone?
I would like to suggest that Simplisafe allow for us to create sub-account logins. We have all of our family members use the mobile app to disarm the system when they return at night so that when they open the door it does not wake everyone up with the pending alarm noise. The issue is that everyone has to use the SAME login info and the SAME password to do this. We have members of our household that I don’t want to have the master password to the system. For example, we have had foster kids and au-pair/nanny’s live with us and I really don’t want to have them using my login info and want them to have their own that I can invite them with their email address to have access to arm and disarm only.
If you make it work like the Chamberlain garage door MyQ system, this is what I would like to see. I can invite a user to enroll and use the app for my garage but I can also revoke it when needed and not have to change the password for the rest of the family.

Man, I wish I would of known this before ordering 2 systems, I would of purchased a system capable of multiple users. Total disappointment…. My $45 Zomodo cameras had multiple user option.
Man, I wish I knew about this before purchasing 2 systems. What a disappointment….. My $45 Zomodo cameras had multiple user capabilities that worked great. This deems it pretty useless for my other half I guess, I doubt she wants to receive alerts all day when customers enter and exit my business. She only wants to monitor the house.
Totally agree. The fact that they haven't come up with some sort of a solution for this is kinda insane. All anyone wants is seperate logins to get simple status info like armed/disarmed and sensor status like door not closed , access to cameras, and be able to arm/disarm. We aren't talking about making their whole web and smartphone apps multi user with permitions at the user level and field level access control. This shouldn't be hard. The hardware door pads already support multiple access codes.
SIMPLISAFE, PLEASE DO THIS. YOU ARE NOT LOOKING GOOD MAKING EVERYONE WAIT YEARS FOR AN OBVIOUSLY NEEDED FEATURE.
Agreed. This feature alone missing from Simplisafe is going to make me switch to Abode soon. This is ridiculous that Simplisafe hasn't done this or really done any innovation recently that I can tell such as allowing to automate auto arms or disarms at a specific time, geofencing triggers, etc. Making me feel that Simplisafe doesn't actually care about their users cares and wants.
@Ifjom I suggest you don't switch to Abode. I went from Wyze to Abode and now Simplisafe. Abode is a great automation hub for OTHER smart devices but the motion sensors, cameras etc are garbage and their customer support is nonexistent.
This really is a disappointment & shocked that a product like this in this mature stage has not incorporated this feature, as it seems so basic for security. Bare minimum should be 50 different uses with different codes. It would be nice to have several different levels of authority for those users.

Agreed--need the app to enable multiple users on the same account, allowing varying permissions set for each.

I just got my Simplisafe system set up, and I really like it. However, it is an absolute must that you add multiple users.

We are in 2022 and here is a security company that tells you that you need to share your username and password with somebody. Is this a joke?
We've had SimpliSafe for about two years and it's REALLY annoying; practically unusable for my wife. So much so that I am considering another system.
