How do I test the system

Today I triggered an alarm (home mode) by going out the door to talk with a neighbor. My phone was in the house. An alarm was triggered but the siren did not function. I received a visit from the Sheriff 22 minutes later (they came in with guns drawn). My settings showed the siren was on high but it did not go off. What is the procedure to test all of the system components?

@lon@yomommashouse, you didn't mention if you have SS2 or 3.  Best, safest way to test is to call the monitoring company, COPS, and ask to put your entire system in test for 2 hours. (Or however long you want). Then arm the system and then set it off. Best to have your key fob in hand or be standing close to the keypad to shut off the siren.

You can call SS tomorrow, option 4 and ask them for other tips.
