Arming the system with door still open

Just installed a new SimpliSafe system, every alarm system I've used before does not allow you to arm the system until all doors/windows are closed but this system does not it let's you arm the system even if your back door is wide open, that sounds like a major security concern because someone could leave the back door open without knowing, arm the system and leave and have no idea.

Why would this be??  My other systems required everything to be closed before you could do anything and to me that made perfect sense, I don't understand why this system works this way.  Is there any way to change this setting?

@rblackmon, this exact same topic was posted in another thread earlier this week (unfortunately, due to the lack of a search tool can't find it at the moment).  In that thread, a customer complained about the same thing.  I posted one's perceived defect is another's desirable feature.  I want the rest of the system to arm. The system will send you a notification of what is open.  Others agreed, however, I am sure there are others who will agree with your point of view.

So if I set the alarm with my front door open as I'm ready to leave, my base says "door or window open.".  After I close the door and leave, then the entry sensor activates for the front door too.  I haven't upgraded to the new system, but will probably do so before the end of the month.  Is this how the new system works too?

Yes sir! With the All New SimpliSafe, if you have a door open when you arm your system, it will still become ready to trigger when you close the door.

I find this to be a HUGE advantage because you can choose to leave a window open or be able to arm the system while you have the door open and walk out.
