How to eliminate "no link to dispacher" on local-only Gen 2

Hello,

Is there a way to get rid of the base station constantly saying "No link to dispacher"?  I recently upgraded from Gen 2 to Gen 3 and would like to use my Gen 2 as a local only system at another location of mine.

Thanks for the assist, @shiherlis!

Hi @spudacus,

Yes, the "No Link to Dispatcher" message is popping up because the Base Station is constantly looking for the Monitoring Service. The only way to disable the message is to stop that searching behavior entirely - by disabling the connection to Monitoring.

There's still a way for our Support team at 800-548-9508 to do it, by connecting to your Base Station remotely. They just need to verbally confirm your Safe Word, and verify that they have the right Base Station. But keep in mind that unfortunately, disabling the connection also shuts down online command, so we can't go back into the Base Station to reverse the change!

In the past, SimpliSafe sent a download to users to stop the voice prompts and the flashing light. However, I do not know if that procedure still exists (or how one would apply it presently since many no longer have a master Keychain Remote to plug the USB into the Base Station). Plus, Adobe Flash Player software is no longer available, and that is what method the Keychain Remote utilized for Base Station changes.

You can call Support or wait until Monday as Davey, the Community Administrator here on the forums, does not work weekends. Davey would be the one to answer your question here.

Has there been any change to the process that Davey explained in the past 2 years since the his original response?

@hrajna yes, if you have a SimpliSafe Original, the process is the same. Please contact our Support team and we'll get this taken care of for you!

Hello,

I’m in this same situation, and have called the support line twice to have this done.  Both times, I’ve been told this cannot be done.  Is there someone I can contact directly, who knows this procedure, to have the Gen 1 base station properly “cut off” from monitoring?

@johnastandorf so sorry about that. I've requested a call from a senior specialist who'll look into this for you.

I'm having the same issue - is there any way to permanently disable the "old" base station from attempting to contact the server?

@dvander Our Support team should be able to disable the Base Station from your Original System's connection to monitoring. I've gone ahead and forwarded your case to our Specialist team. A senior specialist will reach out to you soon to help, so keep an ear out for their call.
