Dead key pad ss2

This morning I went to turn off our ss 2 system and no response. However the keypad was making a barely audible fast clicking noise. I turned off the system with my phone. I pulled the batteries and tested them and got .5 V. (should be 1.5V).  I will swap out batteries and see if this revives the keypad. (no spares on hand. Have to wait for stores to open)

No warning though regarding battery status before failure.

Hi jrsinc,

Yes, normally you'd get a "Low Battery" message on the Keypad. That clicking noise is definitely unusual. Keep us updated if the battery swap works. But we might need to get you a replacement. Our Support team at 800-548-9508 can handle that for you!

I replaced the batteries and everything is good. All the lithium batteries measured .5 V. ( Last change was 14 months ago)  I had noticed the siren not signaling when returning before disarming. I had recently replaced those batteries. Now that works as well.

So it is back up to speed. However there was no warning regarding the low battery.

@jrsinc just one small thing. Did you say that you have lithium batteries in your Keypad?

We strongly recommend that you use regular AA alkaline batteries. Lithiums are best for low drain over a long period of time, but the Keypad is a more power-hungry device. Since the Keypad lasts around 8-12 months with either type, you'd get the most bang for your buck out of the alkalines.

How long do the entry sensors last on the SS2?  I have had mine in about a year, but they are Amazon brand, so may not be the best?

hi @diverjer did you purchase your system from a reseller? We stopped selling all previous-gen systems a while ago, even with our retail partners. Unless you're talking about purchasing the batteries a year ago?

But to answer your question, we estimate the same battery life for the Original Simplisafe sensors - about 3-5 years. And there shouldn't really be a wild different between brands, assuming they're all charged the same.
