monitoring service work with weak cell service?

Hi,

(shopping for a like system so doing research to compare to other companies)

Even though I'm in the city proper, I'm in a bit of a valley not having good line of sight to any cell towers struggling with various carriers for a reasonable signal. I've tried T-Mobile and Verizon in the past. I have Google Fi at this time but the signal is pretty bad so forced to rely on Wi-Fi calling.

What options would I have if it can't communicate well enough?  Would I just have to try and hope if works?

thx

Hi @dragerz,

Thank you for considering SimpliSafe! The Base Station (which is the brains of the system) communicates to our monitoring center through your home's Wi-Fi network. If you are subscribed to our $19.99 Standard Monitoring plan or $29.99 Fast Protect™ plan, the Base Station can also use its built-in cellular backup to communicate to our monitoring center in the event that your Wi-Fi is down.

If you have any other questions about SimpliSafe, please let me know! You can also always reach out to our Support team regarding any questions you may have about the system.

yeah definitely did my research and know how it all talks out and for sure looking at the Fast Protect option. Just worried if Verizon is your 'upgrade' and 'Best' option that it too will be spotty no matter which way I go carrier-wise.

Like I say, may have to just try it for the trials period and if it works it works.

thx for the reply!

@dragerz Suggest you call SS and discuss the issue. if the agent has no clue, ask for a supervisor.  You can try relocating  your base or, ask for a different comm board to swap out. (Easy enough to do that I can even do it). My daughter and son in law first lived in a small condo in Chicago and had a TMobile SIM that didn't cut it; ordered a Verizon SIM and was then fine.

Please post your outcome here if you get a chance.
