Why are there no light switches?
I want to use SimpliSafe when I build my new house, there are all the components I need except there are no light switches. I have to have light switches. That work with all the other components.

Hi @Jengiantkiller ,
Thanks for the suggestion. We'll definitely forward to our Product team. But just to set the expectation, our current focus is on the alarm and rapid response aspect of our system. So if we did expand more into the smart home space, particularly with integrating with other light switches, it won't be for a long time.

@Jengiantkiller At this time there are no Simplisafe light switches or plugs, and unfortunately, SS3 cannot connect with digital assistants for home automation, including light switches or plugs. At present you can arm your system with Google or Echo devices and check on the status (armed or disarmed). That's it.

Yeah, I know, I’m trying to make a suggestion though. Maybe they will listen to me? I know others have made the same comment

Would love to see SimpliSafe have the ability to connect to smart switches for flashing lights. Or SimpliSafe should just make their own smart switch.

This is a huge miss. Better described as a FAILURE of product management to understand that the requirements for "security" is primarily PREVENTIVE, not RESPONSE. When I put in SS years ago, the phone support tech helping me get things configured, said this was coming - we're still all waiting. It made me go with SS in the first place - regretfully, now.
The excuse by the mod earlier in this thread that SS is focused on security first/only, and not "home automation" is bogus, not even close.
EVERYONE knows that the best thing to IMPROVE HOME SECURITY is to have lights on, or use timers, when not at home. That is to say, make it look like someone is home!
What could be better than to have a method in the app on our phones to turn lights on and off, or better yet, to program some randomness into how lights turn on and off while the homeowner is not home. NOTHING else is as preventative. The current SS feature set is all about notification AFTER some breach in security happens! While it's important and necessary, NOTHING is PREVENTIVE about this approach and product design strategy.
HOW HARD could it be to develop a plug-in adapter to connect a lamp to, and to program the ability of the app on our smart phones to turn it on and off, both manually, and on a schedule?
And WHY would this have to be part of another IoT product and program, when this is truly and unarguably the best PREVENTITIVE HOME SECURITY action people interested in security for their home, would want?
As a technical person who's designed both software and hardware, I know that this is a VERY simple thing to do - no excuses. Put some of the profits from the recent price increase toward this app feature and light power-control product..., PLEASE!
