The use of multiple magnets to keep bedroom windows partially open/armed while sleeping with SimpliSafe in HOME mode..

I am using the SimpliSafe slim magnets with the SS3 Entry Sensors to be able to keep our bedroom windows partially open while SimpliSafe is in 'Home' mode.  My wife and I prefer to have our windows partially open while we're sleeping, instead of completely shutting the windows to arm the SimpliSafe system.  I know that we can disable the alarm for each Entry Sensor while in 'Home' mode, but that is not what we want to do.  For the most part, this setup seems to work fine, but we occasionally get warnings that the Entry Sensor is open when it isn't.  To correct the problem, we have to re-adjust the alignment of the sensor and magnet.  Perhaps the problem occurs because we are moving the sensor too fast between magnets?  I could not find any SimpliSafe documentation that explains how to use their slim magnets with their SS3 Entry Sensor device.  Is there anyone else in the SimpliSafe Community forum that can share their experience in this matter?

I have attached a picture of how the sensor, magnet, and slim magnet is positioned.

Thank you.

@fishhifin  I know two systems (one family member and another a friend in another state) that use the same setup but do not use the slim magnets, using the original ones that came with the sensors.  They do not have this issue. Have you tried using the original magnets? Other than that, suggest you call support and ask for a technical specialist to call you back to troubleshoot.

Please, if you get a chance, post your outcome here.

Hi Captain11,

Thank you for telling me about the two systems that are working fine using multiple magnets. It lets me know that I'm on the right track to customizing my security system.

The SimpliSafe sales rep. told me that they do not sell their Entry Sensor magnets separately and recommended that I purchase their slim magnets.  Also, after spending over an hour on the phone with support, he was unable to determine why I am getting occasional Entry Sensor errors with my system.

I have to do further tests, but I am hopeful that I figured out the problem.  Instead of moving the sensor from magnet to magnet in one continuous motion, I wait a few seconds before moving the sensor to other magnet (slim magnet). This seems to help, but only time will tell.

Thank you very much for your kind reply!

@fishhifin Don't thank me until you confirm it works!  You may want to swap out the magnets with other entry sensors  you may have, or, check out Best Buy or Amazon. SS, don't have extra standard magnets??
