Test your cellular backup

Hi all. I’ve been having issues with the cellular backup going down several times a day lately. It’s in another thread called “no link to dispatcher…” posted by me. I’m curious if anyone else is having the same issue lately? If your base is connected to WiFi, you may not even know that it’s happening and that your cellular backup won’t be available when your WiFi goes down. To test the cellular backup, you can try this:

  1.  Go to keypad, enter the menu with your PIN, select system settings, then Wi-Fi and remove it. This will force the system to run on cellular.
  2. Check the keypad as frequently as feasible for your situation over the next few days. If you notice a “no link to dispatcher “ message on the keypad, it means your cellular connection is down.
  3. After testing, remember to reconnect the system back to your WiFi either through the keypad menu settings or through the app.
  4. Remember that with WiFi disconnected, the only connection is cellular and you have no backup for that. If cellular is down your system can’t send alarm signals to monitoring station or your phones.
  5. This is only for those with plans that include cellular backup.

So if you care if your cellular backup is working properly and have the time to test, please do and post your results here.

Thanks.
