Middle of the Night LOUD Low Battery Beep

This started a few months ago.  Often, in the middle of the night, the base station starts loudly beeping and flashing.  Not a single notification, but a continuous beep.  The only way to stop it, is to use the keypad to select the "Mute" option.  No option in the app to mute the alert.

This is exceptionally poor behavior.  My spouse is threatening to cancel our SimpliSafe plan if this doesn't get fixed.

My ask is to please do one (or more) of the below:

  1. Prevent low battery alerts for being audible overnight.  There is zero reason to wake up everyone due to a low battery.
  2. Resume sending low battery alerts to the app and via email.  With the most recent update, low battery alerts no longer appear in the mobile app nor generate an email alert.
  3. Allow the mobile app to silence the low battery alarm.
  4. Reduce the volume and frequency of the low battery alarm.

This is seriously deal-breaking behavior.  We're about ready to switch to a competitor over this insanity.

I found a (partial) answer to this.  On the touch panel (but NOT the mobile app) one can configure the volume level for low battery alerts.  Set that to Off, and now it doesn't bother folk's sleeping.  Very annoyingly though, I'm still not getting low battery alerts in the app, they only show up on the touch panel.  So not sure what changed, but this is a big step down.

I can only laugh as that's when we get all of our low battery warnings is at night when we are sleeping but I don't get a ding just it says warning keypad battery low and that's it.

Same here -- every audible "Battery is low" warning comes in the middle of the night. I work from home so I can attest to the fact is never happens during the day. I just LOVE being awoken from a deep sleep to the sound of that automated voice and then hoping I can return to sleep after the scare. I'm logging my own complaint. This is unacceptable.

This has happened to me several times as well.  As said earlier, always in the middle of the night.  Happened again last night.  Very annoying and not necessary.

It is 3:20 AM and I was only getting 4 hours sleep tonight, now it's just 3, due to this BS notification.FU simplisafe, I hate you.

Hey guys, I thought I just post here to hopefully help someone out in the future cuz I just went through this.

My base station started giving the three-tone warning beep. The specific beep is a three-tone warning signal for the base station which is what I think you guys are getting. It signals a problem specifically with the base station. You can confirm that it is the base station signal by going into the app and turning the base station warning tones to off. If that stops the beep then you know that's specifically the issue.

Now for fixing the issue. My first thought was batteries, so I replace them with brand new Duracell batteries. The beeping continued every 15 seconds.

Come to find out that the base station will not take regular AA batteries (1.5v) it must have rechargeable 1.2V ones. As soon as I put in 1.2 volt rechargeable batteries, the beeping stopped.

So the beeping was battery issue, but you must replace them with 1.2 volt rechargeable batteries.

I'm sure this has been mentioned on the forum before somewhere. However, when I Google searched the problem, all I found were posts about people complaining that the beep wouldn't stop yet, no one really mentioning this battery issue. Which to be honest, astounds me that they would create a base station that didn't take regular AA batteries or make it very clearly marked it must have specific ones.

Anyway, hopefully this helps someone.

Hey @GaryL thanks for looking to help! We do offer free Base Station battery replacements when needed as you mentioned they take very specific batteries. As mentioned in our support article they take Nickel Metal Hydride (NiMH) rechargeable batteries. Anything else can either cause the Base Station to malfunction or be damaged internally.
