I just wanted to provide an update to this question. There is now a setting where you can disable a specific Entry Sensor from triggering an alarm while still keeping your system armed. You can do this in the SimpliSafe mobile app by taking the following steps:
Open up the menu by tapping the three bar icon on the top left of the screen
Select "My System"
Go to "Device Settings" and select your Entry Sensor
Under "Alarm Mode" choose either Home or Away Mode
Select "Disabled"
Make sure to tap "send to base" on the bottom of the screen to save this setting
If you don't want an Entry Sensor to trigger while your system is armed in either Home or Away Mode, you will have to disable it for both alarm modes
Once you do this, opening that specific sensor should not trigger an alarm.
At this time, it is not possible to disarm an individual sensor on your system. For your situation, it may help to adjust some other settings on your system. Shortening the Exit Delay for whichever mode your system is armed in may make it more palatable to disarm the system briefly while letting your dog into the yard as it won't require as much time to re-arm your system.
The Nest alarm door sensors have an illuminated button on the bottom that you can press. Once the door is shut, the system re-enables the door sensor. It's a brilliant solution. Maybe SimpliSafe could add a door sensor with this option?
